wardrobe advice neede

I am struggling to make a decision on the bedroom build in wardrobe doors and panel on a budget and was thinking to:

Option 1: replace the doors but not sure if it is cheaper to paint or replace doors.

Option 2: wallpaper the entire wall incl doors and change handles and hinges: not sure what wallpaper type and design to use and not sure if it will look nice in the end.

Option 3: paint everything one color to match the rest of the room (dulux polishes pebble) or a different colour to make a feature wall out of it (which colour to use then?) or maybe make a feature wall behind the bed and the wardrobe wall paint polished pebble?

Hard decision to make and would welcome your advise and ideas. Some picture below to help visualize better.

If you're on a budget I'm guessing the cheapest option is to paint If you're doing it yoursel. Wallpaper can look good although not sure how durable it would be. I guess it wouldn't hurt to get a quote for replacement doors though. If painting I'd use the polished pebble and change the handles and then a feature wall behind the bed, perhaps the grey green blue colour that's on the trim of the throw?

It's hard to tell from the pic, but the colour does go well with the room. I think they would be better than mirror or white, neither if which I like in a bedroom.

Don't sand a laminate door with a palm sander, you'll likely go through the laminate. Although I usually lightly sand with a fine grade paper by hand..........just to be sure the paint will stick.................with today's products it's accepted that it's not necessary. Use this paint as the primer, being water based it will not restrict you to which paint you can put over the top. Zinsser 1-2-3 ( water based version ) Roller all paint on with a small gloss roller for a nice flat and even finish. Take the doors off also................I know that sounds obvious, but i've rescued a lot of calamities.

It really does depend on the property. It could fix the problem or it could make it much worse. There are a number of reasons why you will get damp. Water ingress - caused by some damage whether a leaking pipe, guttering or from neighbouring property or from damage to the structure e.g. the roof or damp proof course. Poor ventilation - older properties had built in ventilation. Solid brick walls were designed to "breathe". Covering these in materials like vinyl paper prevents the movement of moisture through the wall. The moisture becomes trapped and causes damp. Excess moisture - people, pets, appliances, bathrooms and kitchens all produce moisture. If this moisture isn't allowed to escape it will cause damp. So in answering your question. It will depend on your property and the way it is used. Thermal lining paper could work in a house that has damp caused by condensation by keeping warm moist air away from cold walls you eliminate the condensation point. However the same lining paper in a house that has moisture in the wall because of water ingress would make the damp problem much worse by trapping the water in the wall and not allowing it to dry out. All houses since ancient times are designed with systems (roofs, guttering, drains, breathable materials, heating, vents, chimneys, mechanical extraction, damp proof course etc) to prevent excess moisture indoors. It's usually people messing with these systems or damage to them that causes damp problems. The first step in fixing any damp problem is finding the cause. Once you've found the cause you can eliminate it at the source and so generally don't need overpriced damp proofing solutions sold by the damp proofing "experts".

Paint and new handles would be the cheapest option, on a different note, the radiator that you have, did it replace a single or double radiator? If a double, what’s the output like compared to the one it replaced? I’ve a couple I want to replace but they are doubles and I think these possibly have a bit less output on the equivalent sized radiator.

The doors are plain so no need to replace. Wallpaper by definition will command attention as soon as you enter the room, so unless you are a skilled wallpaper fitter to perfectly cover the doors etc then it can look shabby and will be short lived. Prepare the doors well, paint with a good quality eggshell (either the same as the walls or a colour two shades darker) and fit new handles. A tidy, clean, updated and economical result!

I would stay away from the wallpaper idea, unless you were to get some inexpensive beading to make a panel on each door and to paper within the panel only.

Otherwise I would use a deeper paint colour to co-ordinate with polished pebble and have a mirror made to be attached to the wall between the wardrobes.
