Design help needed for a open plan kitchen/diner
Hi i need some help with picking wall paint colours for my open plan kitchen/diner/lounge area.
The pics below are the things we have picked. We are undecided on whether we should keep the Kitchen island colour as white. We were considering Navy and then painting the curved wall blue also but unsure if this is too bold of a colour.
We could keep the kitchen island white and paint the walls instead.
currently i am thinking maybe paint the walls Farrow and Ball Elephants Breath but will this clash and with the cream floor and white kitchen?
Could anyone suggest any ideas on what other colours we could paint the walls?

Comments (6)Hello Jeannette, what a lovely project! I've worked on a number of bungalows and they have their own unique challenges. Making the spaces work for our needs today, and for your own family needs have to be the priorities. I would suggest you appoint an interior designer before thinking in detail about the kitchen. An interior designer will find out how you want to use the space and come up with clever floor plan that is workable and beautiful. This is going to be a really important investment for you. Im not sure if we can do the extra corner bit for number five, but I do like the layout, it will depend on cost, also don't need two tv areas, as we have a front lounge in the house anyway. the office was supposed to be a mixed use room, as a playroom with kids storage and also an occasional bedroom, so sofa bed In there. I know many people have hobs and sinks on islands, but I just think i'll end up dumping things on there.. I have four in the family, two adults, two kids, but we have a lot of people round for entertaining and parties, so space is what I'm after, but was also looking for somewhere the kids can go out of the way from adults if need be. As for kitchen, the reason for having large larder is to put not only food/drink spare fridge in there, but also things we don't use all that often in the kitchen, equipment etc.. I like everything clean and hidden away. The office on number 5 would be separate anyway as this concept includes sliding doors, which fold into the wall, so only entrance would be from outside, not sure if I can afford these yet though. Comments (3)I meant that you had drawn a run of units that was 20’ long and you could likely get a great kitchen into a smaller space, leaving room for dining. Attaching a dining table to the island is a stylish look and often helps people with insufficient room. Comments (16)I completely agree with OnePlan. Take your time. Don't settle for less (unless your budget really doesn't allow..). I sell and design kitchens and my boss pays me per hour, not commission. And everyone gets the same lowest possible price. People can come back time and time again, until their kitchen fits their needs perfectly. I hear plenty of stories on people being pushed into a signature or lured in with discounts. Or salesmen without any technical insight/background. Or designers not really listening to someone's needs/wants. It saddens me. A kitchen is not a car you can trade in after a year or so. Always look for something you can live with for 10 years plus (and longer). Your workspace would ideally be 80cm (minimum), that means the area inbetween sink and hob. Every other bit of surface can be used to place other items, make a drink, etc. When you regularly work with two people you could downsize the tall cabinet left of the ovens to a 30cm pullout larder, so a 90cm drawer cabinet could go next to it (for example)....See MoreM B
