Bathrooms Design Dilemma

Geo Panel/Acrylic/Tiles

Hi Everyone,

We’re are planning to have our bathroom done and we were considering between Geo Panel/Tiles; I’ve tried researching online but I wanted discuss with real people and see images.

Who has used both or either and do you have any images?

Pros and cons too?

Pop a link to what you're thinking! I think it sounds like waterproof panels for your shower? They are pretty much always waterproof nowadays but a good option would be Bushboard Nuance. A lot of designs and materials can feel cheap and make the enclosure feel a little 'caravany'. Look forward to the response :)

Totally agree, I didn’t want anything that would make it look cheap. I think we’ve decided to go half metro/subway tiles and just paint the top half. We will then go with acrylic or geo panel in the shower enclosure.

HI Jodg, Microcement is what you should look into. Its seamless, so no worries about trim. When applied by trained applicators it's completely waterproof. It's available in over 30 standard colours, also metallic finishes. it's only 3mm thick so you wouldn't lose as much space as you would with panels. We incorporate a mesh into the base so it will not crack. Finally the sealing is polyurethane so aswell as being waterproof it is extremely hard wearing. Do you mean you want to replace your tiles or just cover up the 'feature' ones you have? I know you can buy tile stickers that will can effectively update feature tiles but probably wouldn't look good on a whole wall. You need to ensure that the colour/design you choose is correct. They are too expensive to swap around. I have Nuance by Bushboard. Lots of colour choices in 3 different price ranges and there's absolutely no way I would revert back to mucky tiles/grouting and all the maintenance they require. Google Nuance and ensure you have BB Complete for the joints and seals. I personally don't like niches cut out as I've found they hold the water. I have a stainless steel holder for my shampoo etc. It's big enough to hold 5-6 bottles of various stuff.

You could possibly use white metro ones, and then paint the rest of the bathroom or accessories in the duck egg blue, or pink? Abz, good choice on the metro tiles and wall paint combo! That will look very nice, quite traditional actually, so you wouldn’t want to have an ultra modern, high tech acrylic material in the shower then. And besides, they are not the easiest to maintain over the years. The surface will scratch and fade. If you are only interested in the waterproof feature, there are other ways to improve that if you opt for tiles. Go for bigger tiles, which means less grouting which means the water will have less chance to leak through. Good luck!
