What (in your opinion) is the latest trend for paint colours on kitchens?

the guy that is doing our kitchen is saying that there is a trend, moving away from greys and getting close to nature all greens & woods.

Go bolder with colour. I too have a white gloss kichen in my own home with a cement wotktop. It looks very very clinical, too clinical for my own taste to be honest but I'll have to put up with it for a while longer. grey walls might be ejust too cold What about a great strong blue on some of the walls, deep prussian, or a peacock blue. then play with some paler blue greys elsewhere. your choices of hard surfaces are a great foil for playing with colour. atomic red from little greene is an extraordinary colour that you could have fun with, bringing in a touch of mid century modern furniture. or picking up on the zeitgiest what about some delicate pale pinks and lilac tones. very calm and soft and totally on trend. mix with some copper tones and wooden pieces. lastly dont be afraid of pattern. a bonkers but fun wallpaper can make the space really interesting, kitchens are all to often left to be the work horses of the house and lack texture. wallpaper can do this. tie it all together with plain blind and curtains where needed in linens or slubby cottons. fell free to contact me directly if you are in the glasgow area or if you want a paint chart sent out

Thanks everyone for the replies so far! OnePlan - I’ve been having a play around with the dulux app which is pretty good. Will see what else is available. Maths wife - really like the look of Cromarty, hadn’t considered it. It might be a good choice as it’s a bit lighter than french gray. Colourhappy - in terms of light, it’s a basement conversion so it’s not the brightest, but it never gets too dark during the daytime. We get some natural light from above at both sides through the windows. Is it best to avoid darker colours? The current colour on the top photo with the stairs is iced mocha which does look nice on the photo but we’ve had it since we moved in and it’s time for a change! It’s a brown shade so thinking maybe a grey or green this time. Alison - your photo looks great. It’s a nice colour and you’re right, it could work well with the woodwork. Not sure it’s for me though... Another question - am I best keeping the ceiling some shade of white? I’ve gone dark in other rooms in the house but they have much higher ceilings.

Thanks everyone! I might try a sample of tranquil dawn and if it’s no good, I’ll probably stick to the white or even a cream to make it softer. Louise, tbh I don’t think we’ll bother with any more tiling though that sounds like a very nice idea.

Thankyou all for your responses. I am answering all the questions as follows: 1. The units colour is Porcelain (Howden's Elmbridge Kitchen Units). 2. The original wall colour is Dulux Ivory Lace. 3. The kitchen and utility room is East facing and the sun is in the rooms in the morning and switches to the front of the house in the afternoon. 4. As advised earlier, all of the grey variants we have tried are coming out in shades of lilac through to mauve/purple unless we go with a deep grey which is too dark for the room. 5. Any help on alternative colours which maintain the airy light feel of the rooms would be very much appreciated including creams etc. I look forward to your thoughts/suggestions.

We as kitchen manufacturers have noticed this, especially darker colours such as dark green and black.

The 'all white' kitchen is still huge but darker colours have been gaining in popularity. Dark blues, greens and blacks are strong statements and not for everyone. What I am noticing is the mixture of textures - rough sawn timbers, metalics and mirrored splashbacks alongside smooth gloss or matt finishes. Exciting times.................

Wood finishes haven’t been popular with our customers for over a year. Graphite looks lovely in the right setting. Blues and greens are also being asked for. However creams are still very popular probably with people who want to play safe and not have to re-model their kitchen in a couple of years time. Greys are also popular.
