is the banquette custom

I love this banquette. Is it a custom piece? How long is the banquette? How long is the table. Is there storage space underneath the seats? This is lovely.

Hi Wanda. Yes the banquette is bespoke and it does have storage underneath. The table is an antique from Paul Evans and I believe around 3 meters long. All my best, Staffan

The floor is vinyl Minnie, I don't like it because it's a bit dark but my dislike is probably intensified because it clashes with the kitchen cupboards ( which a different shade of dark wood) and the whole combined look makes the room look dark and dingy! I prefer a more monochrome kitchen, so we're hoping to change to white and grey gloss cupboards and then a grey ash floor. We've already looked in to replacing the cupboard/drawer fronts and it's going to cost about a grand! Luckily we've budgeted for that though because I don't think the cupboards are paintable (they have a sort of lacquered finish). Yeah, it's a pain that we can't push the stools in, I'm going to take out two strips of the shelving though so there's room for knees and keep the one strip for our alcohol collection

Roughed up my earlier sketch in the IKEA planner. It should be pretty close to the correct scale. You could easily fit a much larger kitchen island in but I can't figure out how to do that in their planner. You also have enough space in this scheme that you could make the island a fully floating one and would have the option of rotating it 90 degrees too if you preferred. The fridge freezer is in the tall cabinet to the right of the sink. I actually think I'd want to swap the sink and hob position round now but can't be bothered to change it again this evening lol. I think in reality you'd want to just box off the awkward bit of wall sticking out by the kitchen island. Or possibly fit some shallow shelves in. You'd have buckets of cupboard and counter space and given the wall of floor to ceiling units you could get away with a much more open devol-esque scheme in the kitchen itself if you wanted. Have no idea what sort of style kitchen you were after so just defaulted to my favourite scheme (sorry!).

@ Jonathan: The stencil idea is brilliant, do you think using black colour on whites and white colour on black tiles can work as well? Also I like the flour plans , the room layout is a bit different in real life but I'm not sure what's the best way to explain the layout as I don't have more pics before next week now. What software are you using for the floor plans? looks neat. I tried a few now but they all need payment to export and then I'd rather know which is the best to use first. The garden screen looks good too even tho I'm still leaning more towards your original idea of bamboo screens. After reading all the suggestions here I'm definitely reconsidering the flooring and focusing more on the furniture and decor. And since we're likely stuck with black and white I'll start experimenting with the grays and other soft dark colours to see which combintion works out the best, and will try maybe get a few reds in there tactfully as J suggested @J: I love the diy idea for the banquette and most probably will try to do that myself, paired with a few A quality cushions to hide the imperfections hah. I don't have much experience with building stuff but after a few mistakes I'll get there. And thanks for sharing the pics , although I'm more of a minimalistic guy but I can see how adding a few extra bits and bobs can help take away the focus from where we don't want people to focus. I'll have a look at some decent size plants as well.
