Request for advice for lighting + curtains for kitchen and living room

advice/ideas?I try to decorate my new house. Currently, I am looking for 3 chandeliers for our open plan kitchen and living room (1 chandelier/pendant light for the kitchen, and 2 chandeliers + a table lamp for the living room--preferably silver colour and glass/crystals). We also need curtains for the same room. If you have some time could you please see the attached photos and share with me your

Do you know the drop that you’re trying to achieve in both rooms? I can make a bespoke design for your interior using glass crystal to add a unique touch.

The Persian rug is lovely. We have several (sitting room, study, hall, bedroom ..... they're a bit addictive), with fabric using a couple of the colours in each for stuff like cushions, curtains etc. with neutral walls. I agree with minnie about the patterns. To get the right colour combinations, at a reasonable price, you could find a company that does a range with the colour or colours you're looking for and then look for remnants on ebay, to get them at bargain prices. That's worked well for us. Great advice from others on layout - think carefully about the flow when using the kitchen. Getting to stuff you need whilst cooking, through people or obstacles (or both) gets old pretty quickly. On lighting, layering is everything. Think task, ambient and decorative. We have pendants that are decorative and work functionally over the table (x2) and island (x1). However, the outer edges of dining area and cooking area have LED spots that shine down onto work surfaces when in use. We also have wall mounted lights that directly illuminate individual worktops when switched on. These also serve as great ambient lighting when you have the spotlights off. I have also wired hidden LED strip lighting above tall wall cabinets, to provide dimmable, colourable light to bounce off and highlight the ornate cornices in the room. This means that you have lots of different lights doing different things - which also means you can get great combinations. We too use Hue, but only on the LED strip and pendants. It's enough for decent control and cheesy colour when the mood takes us.

Hi Lee- the window recess is actually a bonus in this case because it gives you sufficient depth for the 2 blind mechanisms. Plus the additional recess into the ceiling will help as well because it will disguise hanging the blinds at slightly different heights, eg one rod above the other, which you will likely want to do to get both blinds as close to the window as possible. The closer the blind the less light through the sides. I would recommend you get a standard roll roller blind, eg you want the fabric to go down the back of the roll. We’ve had really good luck ordering from Tuiss in the past for our roller blinds, and they do Romans’ as well. One thing you might also want to look at is cassette blinds, which have fixed side rails and thus offer better blackout and thermal coverage. We have a “Velux Duo” on a loft window and it’s terrific. It would give you a different option to combine a pull-up bottom mounted sheer blind to hide passerby (but keep the upper part of the window uncovered for better light) along with a traditional top mounted roman/roller blind for nighttime cover.

Love the sofa. A nice statement colour! I would work well would be some neutrals to give the sofa its moment. But a rug/ accessories that will complement the other bits of furniture in the room. with browns and golds. I would recommend a rug that has texture but plainer and lighter to open up the room a bit. But also a curtains something that is softer and bright and light as well. of a more airy and delicate nature over some blackout blinds. Dear "Little John Products" thank you very much. I do not know what exactly i am looking for, this is why I am looking for inspiration and ideas in Houzz. If you have any links to sites where I can look at images and compare prices, this would be very much appreciated. Ideally, I am looking for silver colour metal and crystal/glass chandeliers. Hi. What's your budget as Chandeliers can be very pricey? I can see the fitting over the coffee table but where is the other one in the living room? Ceiling height would also be needed. It's a lovely room, I would however at minimum paint the kitchen window white. Just wondering what the room would look like if the chair was on the purple wall angled towards the sofa (and move the sofa up)
