can i paint matt wood paint on top of recently painted gloss ?
Comments (5)I personally would not as it might 'peel', it might not, but better safe than sorry. Let the paint thoroughly dry and if it's the same base ie Acrylic, which is most likely these days, then sand and re-paint. If you do not wish to sand, or they are different bases, then wait for the paint to thoroughly dry and then use Zinsser 1-2-3 primer or even Zinsser Peel Stop to go over the gloss and then paint with the Matt....See MoreFitted wardrobes- to paint or not to paint?
Comments (0)I really don’t like these plastic fitted wardrobes in the bedroom. I’ve had a quote, sanding - which will leave a lot of mess, priming and painting. I’ve been told the room will be out of order a couple of weeks. Inconvenient. The plastic beading will not be able to be painted I’ve been told and they are cream and gold! I cannot remove the alcove as this is not a separate piece. I was thinking of changing the handles and adding long mirrors to the tall cupboards, or even a fitted mirror behind the headboard wall? Im afraid I won’t like them any more but having them gutted is a bigger job....See MoreTo paint it not to paint wooden staircase?
Comments (19)I’d paint it - maybe 2 tone as some of the comments suggest. I did mine this summer, absolutely love how stylish it looks. I used chalk paint which needed no undercoat (some mahogany coloured stain previously) - although the grey took better than the white. Your stair gate suggest kids, I have 3 small ones and a few chips have appeared on mine, but overall I’m pleased with it. It gets a lot of comments when people come over. (We also need new carpet but holding off until the youngest gets potty trained)...See MoreTo paint or not to paint?
Comments (72)Aw shucks guys! Thanks! I’m definitely aiming for a tiny bit more stylish. My partner brought that heinous green drainer from his house and was everso pleased with himself for solving a problem I wasn’t aware I had! And the el cheapo Wilko kettle is a placeholder til I get a boiling water tap, so I haven’t upgraded it for three years. Plus he’s got a brewing corner in the kitchen, and a 3D printing bench in the utility. I’m just glad to have his wallpapering skills! Though we had a difficult conversation when he replaced my Henry who fitted under the stairs for his Dyson which doesn’t :-)...See Moreq7777
