Hi all. We will be painting the whole wall in the dark blue (as per the sample on the wall). The gold mirror on the floor will be going above the fireplace...
Question: should we paint up to the ceiling or only go as far as the current picture rails?
We did not add the picture rails and they are certainly not original, however, removing isn’t an option as likely will remove plaster in doing so.
All other walls are going to be an off white. The picture rails go all the way round the room. If we only paint the dark blue up to the rails then likely the above will be the same off white (to prevent any white clashes).
The idea is to do away with the wallpaper in the other picture so that the canvas is on a plain wall. The canvas will then bring all the colours in the room together.
Thoughts?

Comments (4)Thanks Carol. My thoughts too but was originally going to tile the whole room but was stopped by the boss which I reckon was right. Was going to tile to floor and include two tile shelves so I will go ahead and finish this. Also intend to continue the tiles from under the window to the corner plus an edging. Comments (1)Am thinking the alcove naturally lends itself to TV position if using this idea. Elsewhere in the room and it will simply encroach on your floor space. It would mean your current lounge in it's current position would be close to the TV - but if it is a flush as possible it might just work. Comments (5)A dark laminate accent wall has a modern urban feel together with the glass wardrobe sliding doors. Minimalist modern furnirure would go well, if you want to embrace the look. I would change the carpet to a light flooring or lighter carpet, tbh. Depending on what style you like, you could investigate painting the wall. 5 years agoI think it would look good to have the dark navy on all the walls below the dado rail on one side of the room to make the display/shelving stand out. I think navy and gold look great together.
