Advice needed for lighting above kitchen island which contains a hob.
Comments (21)Hi @shanagarry80, thanks for your comments! I'm not at home right now so I can't be sure how big the extractor fan actually is but it is over a 90cm hob and oven, so must be at least 90cm. It doesn't look particularly large in situ and the inbuilt lights are very good for illuminating the cooking area. Have a look at Gutmann's website; as I said in one of my earlier comments, other companies do make similar extractors but our kitchen people thought this one best, however our kitchen is now 3 years old and a lot can happen in that time! Comments (49)Dear Wombatchild The two double ovens are on that back wall. The distance from them to the end of the island is 2.6 mtrs. The bank of units is mirror imaged from the centre of the ovens and that means there are two slim pull out larder cupboards on that wall. That 2.6m means that they can be pulled out and it is still no problem for traffic to be flowing past. My hob is on the island itself and the extractor comes up through the granite when in use. That far end of the island is great for taking things out of the oven and checking on food ...... turning potatoes over etc... To the left of that bank of units is a door to my boot room so I need walk way space there. This thread is quite old now and I may be repeating something I typed earlier but I love my kitchen ( think it is about six years since I had it out in) ..... The only things I would have done differently would have been not to have stainless steel sinks as they are a devil to keep looking nice! And I would like more contemporary pendant lights over the island instead of those chrome chandeliers - can change them but still working on husband on that point!!!! Comments (4)I've recently purchased another Firstlight rise and fall pendant in brushed nickel. This is to go with the metallic fittings in the kitchen ie sockets and cupboard handles. This is in addition to the original antique brass pendant in the adjacent dining area. They are an excellent centrepiece for the price but personally I don't think they would work in groups. Also available in white. Sorry I can't provide a picture....See MoreLow ceiling - pendant lights over island
Comments (15)Wow Sarah that looks absolutely brilliant! Similar position as the lights in the link that Twyla sent look gorgeous but a bit over my budget (we're doing an extension and literally everything has come in over budget 😩) How lovely to make your own, I think I'm going to attempt it! Thank you very much for the detail on how to do it, very much appreciated! Hope IKEA still have the shades. Thank you everyone! ❤️...See MoreSarah Rimmer Interior Design
