What type of art do you have in your home?
Comments (26)As someone who taught Textile design on a degree course (before retirement) and prior to that worked in a famous national gallery, I have extremely eclectic taste. I have work painted by myself, work collected from other artists, limited edition prints, framed ephemera, and even two very large antique Victorian watercolors in gold frames - which I wouldn't probably buy these day, but do provide a bit of "weight" and gravitas in rooms. I like to put them against ultra modern lighting and pieces of furniture to give a bit of edge and conversely, put modern art against a couple of pieces of antique furniture we have....See MoreTo hang or not to hang - should I add art to this wall or leave it as

Comments (85)It looks great, I'm glad you and your daughter are so pleased and she has lots of room for friends over, playing etc. It can also be easily and cheaply adapted as she grows if she wants. My only criticism (if you can call it that) is that if not already your daughter may soon also want the desk to double up as a dressing table and therefore I think a mirror was a good idea but the memo board (which looks great) can always be moved as and when needed. (I thought i'd posted a comment on that previously but obviously not!). I might also add a desk light there for working during winter months. So which room next?!...See MoreHow to decide on a piece of Art for wall
Comments (97)I'd take this as a great opportunity to have some fun and explore making your own piece of art. From the space (that I can see), a canvas would suit being placed above, either leaned against the surface or elevated. I'd lead towards to being elevated. I'd say get a cheap canvas with some oil based paint and just try different shapes and different ways to add the paint to the canvas, don't try to make actual shapes but try blending colours (a spray drinking bottle makes an excellent tool for adding blending) in an abstract style. In term of colours, I really feel burnt orange and a mix between duck egg blue and royal blues would make a very eye-catching scheme for that area. If you do try a bit of art, make sure to send us an image! I guarantee you'll have fun doing this, and you'll be surprised how well it could turn out. Good luck!...See MoreKara L
