Colour matching terracotta floor tiles?!

Help please! I'm creating a kitchen-diner & need to keep the Victorian floor tiles (terracotta + black). It'll be a big North-facing room. Any colour ideas for cabinets & then the walls? TIA! xx

Hi,

I would go for neutral soft colours so the floor can stand out.

As the floor is so dark, I would choose light units in white, pale grey, pale green or a pale taupe. II love dark shades but I think the floor and the fact the room is north facing, I think they will be light sapping. I would wait until everything is in place before choosing a wall colour.

Hi there, We have an assortment of floor tiles that you could choose from! I'd recommend any colour that's darker than the wall tiles, as it should mean you won't find yourself constantly worrying about cleaning up after yourself.

Hi Jacky1h, Am I right in saying the tiles in my photo are the ones you're asking about? (Image 1) If so, is the red paint you're looking for to paint the whole room? If it is I'd discourage the use of red paint unless used for a feature wall as it can have a harsh effect on the room; making it appear smaller and dark. However, depending on the size of the room, I'd suggest from Rectory Red (Image 2) by Farrow and Ball as a feature wall paint. It's an earthy red and its use would compliment the tiles, it's the closest match I could find, you could then keep other walls crisp white and dot around red accents, thus colour mixing and balancing the room. Although, if you're definitely wanting to paint all walls I'd suggest a washed out brown (image 3) this is Eating Room Red by Farrow and Ball, it isn't too 'red' as though to darken the room, however it does have red undertones and will therefore compliment your choice of tile whilst not making the room appear small and cramped. Hi Jemma, I agree with option 1 from your choices, would definitely work:-) but just to throw a cat in amongst the pigeons... Have you considered rubber flooring at all? Some excellent options available now, clean lines, you can choose to have it look like what it is, or mimic tiles or timber. Gives the best of both worlds as looks good & much softer under foot - just a thought :-)

These are my Japanese acers, I selected the shorter varieties since the drive isn't huge. The red one is approximately 10yo, the other two are 6-7 yo. They grow quite slow and stay compact,in my opinion. I tried to take the photos in front of our Cooper so you get the idea of the sizes. They are Garnet (2+ m) Bi Ho (2m) and Winter Flame (1.5m and it grew 50cm during the last three years). Acers can be shaped, I'll be removing some lower branches to add some structure. They are gorgeous in autumn and passers-by often stop to admire.
