What type of door would go with this house?

any ideas please? also getting the garage door replaced.

Do you want to go modern or traditional? I prefer traditional and wooden not UPVC. ( Everyone's different ). Greens work well with Mock Tudor as it goes well with all the brown.

It's hard isn't it?! I prefer the symmetry of two side lights but I suppose it depends on your inside space - do you need more space on one side more than the other to accommodate any furniture or fittings. I wanted two side lights for my house but quickly realised it wouldn't work with our hallway and where the stairs were, so had to go with one side. If there are no practical considerations just go with what you find more pleasing to look at. It's harder for me to visualise how it would look because you don't have windows in yet.

Hmmm. First thing to consider is would removing those side-light sections badly affect the light levels in the hallway behind the front door? Are you going to regret the total loss of light? I think maybe you will. So I would like to suggest that you go with new glass-panels that have 'frosted' opaque glass in them (perhaps you could get the number or name of your house etched into the frosting too). Then I would go with a coloured door. Many of the composite doors available on the market look super-smart and have all the benefits of the extra security and low-maintenance. Navy blue would look great against the turquoise of that plant pot, giving you a great excuse to get two more of those to group in a pleasing collection of three. Hope that's helpful. Good luck.

All the windows are white, the upper floors are white, the garage door is white. The side windows by the door match the rest of the house. Why do you want to change your front door? What is the actual problem? What don't you like? Is the door broken? Generally UPVC doors with their muti-point locking systems are pretty secure. Or is it the overall look you aren't happy with and think the door will make a difference? I wouldn't pick a door you like and stick it on the house, consider the context. If you aren't changing anything else, consider another white door. If you go for something contemporary in oak or other style, consider how it fits with the inside of the house. I often see property with an 'oldie worldie' kitchen in a modern house, with carpet that looks like it belongs in a stately home, bathrooms from another era and modern laminate flooring in another room and it all feels a bit hotch potch. One trick is to take pictures of the rest of the house and put them on a (mood) board. Then put images of different doors to see if it belongs on the board. If they don't, discard them. If they do, add them to a short list.
