anthracite or lacquered bare metal RADS?
Comments (29)I can’t remember what the company was now (unless I put the link in the thread?) I went to a bathroom showroom who had some raw metal ones but they were shiny. You can’t tell from the picture as I wanted bare metal look at the time but they have to coat them to stop them rusting apparently. Think the company I got my rads from said the bare metal was quite plain and just a dull silver grey colour. I just remember not being as impressed as some of the images I saw online. Guess it depends on the look you want as well although mine still fit in well with the brick wall etc...See MoreHow hard/expensive is it to move a waste pipe?
Comments (4)Everything is possible but it to answer the cost question is difficult without seeing what’s there. The soil pipe can easily be diverted but eventually it has to go into a drain. Assuming the drain is under the conservatory you will probably be moving the drain which likely is a £6 k job (depending on where it is going) but a lot of that cost is digging down and if your intention was to dig foundations for an extension then the drain cost is much reduced....See MoreUnderfloor heating or Rads?
Comments (22)When we moved into our house we turned off the monumentally expensive electric UFH that the previous owner had running 24/7/365 in our large open plan kitchen, dining living. British Gas demanded an engineer be sent to view our meter within a month as they had decided that we, the new owners, must have broken or bypassed the electric meter to get free power as the meter was no longer spinning like a top! We now have good old central heating radiators installed - when we put these in we found the foam insulation for the electric UFH was burnt in some areas where the previous owners had sofas and furniture that sat close to the floor! We love the warmth in the room now, the fact that you can warm yourself by a radiator after a cold trip outside and the slowly turning electric meter!...See MoreHelp - how do I hide this side soil pipe?
Comments (6)I too have a boxed in cistern and we have had it tiled. We’ve had a similar setup for about the last 15 years. As Sarah L says, the access is via the flush plate. The first time we had this set up, our plumber actually made a couple of the tiles easy to remove by using a silicone around them instead of grout (in the same colour as the grout). It was never needed - and since we’ve had to redo the bathroom for other reasons, we haven’t bothered to do this again. I researched cisterns before doing this - I do recommend you use a reputable and reliable brand - I always choose Geberit, but I’m sure there are others too. Also cisterns come in different widths and depths - I went with Geberit initially because they have a cistern that will fit into a wall of depth 10cm....See MoreTani H-S
