help! my new hallway needs "something" but i don't know what!
Comments (16)Hi There I would add a hallway runner to take away the echo that would be there (due to there being a hard floor). I would also add something in the hall either a coat rack wall, mounted or free standing and change the light fittings for something unusual, a striking fitting is what is necessary in a room with very few features....See Morehelp ,for large high alcoves in a hall beside a beautiful fireplace.
Comments (5)Hi Bridget. I really love your mirror ( and the clock!) but I do wonder if it would work better if the mirror were really tall (just over the alcoves). My eyes are drawn to the alcoves rather than the fire which is lovely. It would also give the clock some space. You could also paint the alcoves in the ŵall colour or maybe paint the whole of the chimney breast to make the fire stand out? (I'd also move that small table if possible ). You have some interesting things in the room so maybe don't go for items that match in the alcoves? I think any objet d'art would look good, perhaps a bust or something in one? I'd have a look in antique shops for something a little unusual or there are some tall animal ornaments around that could look good even just sat on a couple of leather books which could suit the room?...See MoreFurnishing Ideas for our Large New Converted Barn
Comments (3)Hi. What a gorgeous house :) Given you are starting from scratch, have you considered hiring an interior designer? Preferably one whom passes on their trade discounts which will negate the design fees :) if not, i assume you're after a modern country style? What colours do you like? Do you have a photo of the table and chairs? I can't see any rattan chairs if I'm on the right website :) Also what kind of budget do you have for furnishing the 3 rooms? Do you have a photo of the main bedroom and do you have a floor plan with measurements? The kitchen is beautiful. It doesn't look dark in the photos, I would personally live with it for a few months and see how you feel. If it is dark, it may be the worktop. What's behind the range oven? Maybe you could have an antiqued mirror splashback to bounce some light? Do you also know the head height over the island as the ceiling there looks a little low for pendants but it may be the photo...See MoreLarge Hall- mismatch furniture
Comments (10)Is it a contemporary look you’re after or modern country? Maybe it’s the photo angle but the console feels in the wrong place. I’d consider a table over the radiator and then accessorise with stems etc. This one is by Scumble Goosie but there may be others who make them. I’d paint the radiator to match the walls. I’d add a chair under the stairs and you could add a round side table or a potted plant as you suggested. It may be worth considering painting some of the wood on the stairs to update it. lovely hall 😊...See MoreDavid Clark and Company
