Ripping out fitted wardrobes

We have booked someone to come and rip out fitted wardrobes in my son’s Tiny room and my daughter‘s room and replace with something free standing (after redecorating. Painting the rooms white and with a brutal carpet). I’m panicking now about storage. Although the fitted ones aren’t packed with stuff I’m worried I’m making the wrong decision ripping them out. I just hate how they look.
