Help with bathroom tiles please
Comments (15)Minnie101 I love all these ideas.. I’m trying to work with the room. as you walk into the room, the shower area isn’t visible, it’s behind the door. It’s like an unexpected surprise as it’s built over the stair. What is visible will be the wall with all the bathroom fittings on. Ive gone over ideas of having the floor under the bath and to the opposite wall the same colour as the wall behind it.. when I was going for Showerwall panel. Doing this in these tiles is certainly an option... then maybe the rest of the floor in the light terracotta. I could do with it all pu on an app to see it....See Morein despair over bathroom tiles. Comments (10)Before you go ahead & paint the tiles, I’d consider other options first. You need to introduce more of another colour to break up the beige. For example, changing the floor would make a big difference as would changing or painting the vanity unit and mirror. Most bathrooms have quite a lot of white in the sanitary ware to tone them down whereas yours doesn’t. Using either white or a darker wood will help. Personally, I think a white vanity will help to freshen & modernise the look. For the floor, I’d consider a darker wood effect vinyl to break up the colour. If possible, several large plants would also be good - aiming for a spa-type feel....See MoreHelp! Is this a bad tiling job and bathroom refurb?
Comments (23)Hello, just to update - I met with the bathroom fitter this morning after a brief telephone call last night - he was already loading his van when I arrived so he knew the job was ending before completion. He agreed that the tiling was not up to scratch and stated that the guy he got in to do it was having family problems / is not a very good tiler and said he had paid him for 4 days work and had done 4 days work himself. I said i would not have paid the tiler / this is not my concerns but it was a very difficult conversation ending in me paying too much I think. I ended up paying him £590 in total - this included paying for things he has bought for the job (which i still need to rebuy for the next person), one full day for the two of them for removing the old bathroom and part fitting the new one, another full day just for the bathroom fitter . In hindsight this was too much but I also just wanted him to leave and he was asking for 4 full days for him and 4 for the tiler. It was not an easy transaction for either of us I am sure. We parted amicably and he has emailed to apologise for the job and thank for the payment. Lessons learnt - order of works before a job starts, more oversight during a job, more research before hiring and standing my ground if things are not done properly. Thank you again for the very helpful advice and information....See MoreWood or stone effect tiles in my new bathroom ? - please help !
Comments (10)LVT is generally fine up to 27 degrees with UFH but you’d need to check the relevant make etc. A warm stone effect could work particularly if you have the room to add accessories to bring in more warmth? I don’t think a chevron wood effect would give a nautical feel and the pattern gives the effect of texture. I think any wood would work though, just avoid accessorising with anything nautical if that’s not the look you want! Do you also want to avoid pattern in the shape of the tile as opposed to a print on the tile?...See MoreJenny
