Help me arrange my lounge
Comments (25)The picture is a ganesh - hindu god that I bought on holiday in bangkok, I'm actually going to replace it with a sketch or simple drawing as I don't think its fits the frame well. I would LOVE to replicate the alcove cupboard, but my Dad built them for me when he stayed with me for a week once and it was hard work, I couldn't ask him to do it again! I'll have a play around with the mirror etc tonight. Green is a good suggestion, I will keep it in mind when cushion shopping :-) And I know that the shelves need some thought. Thanks again :-)...See MoreAdvice on a 'warm' while for a noth-facing lounge
Comments (3)Hi @picasso28, Choosing the right paint for a north-facing room is potentially a tricky minefield of guess work! The problem with northern light is that it tends to be cooler and harsher and it often brings out the cooler tones within a colour. If you're going to opt for an off-white, avoid anything with a green or grey base. Yellow based colours such as Farrow & Ball White Tie, New White or even something as vibrant as Yellow Ground can help to bounce as much light around the room as possible. You can also help by hanging a mirror to further reflect the light you do have in place. Alternatively, you could go the other direction and embrace the darkness to create a dramatic and cocooning interior. Strong colours like Brinjal, Railings or Down Pipe can create a sense of intimacy in a dark space. We recommend ordering some sample pots in the colours you think might work and trying them on different walls in different parts of the room. Our sample pots are available with free UK Mainland delivery. We hope this helps! Regards KB...See MoreTeal & Grey Colour Scheme For Lounge Help Needed
Comments (30)Just did an on-line search for "grey and teal and living room", and this thread came up. Love your ideas, and the advice you received. How did your room turn out? Can you post some pics? (I'd like to do something similar in our new rear extension which is approaching the fun decoration time)....See MoreHelp to make my new lounge cosy
Comments (7)I love your furniture! The couch, chair and ottoman look so cosy. I would add some textured throws to the couch and chair, and a couple more cushions. I'd also pull them away from the walls slightly, as this will actually make the space feel larger. The wall behind the couch is crying out for some art- it really depends on your taste and budget, but you could go with a couple of really large canvases, or a photo gallery with lots of mismatched frames? Just don't hang them too high! The lamp beside the armchair would be great standing on a side table, and I'd add another side table with a lamp beside the couch where the big box is. The room would definitely feel cosier with lamps on and the overhead lights off. For storage, I'd go for built in every time! I'm biased as I love my own built in shelves so much. They definitely make a room feel cosy and finished. I'd be tempted to build floor to ceiling on the tv wall, with shelves above and cupboards below. The only issue there I think is the height of the tv...could it be lowered? It seems uncomfortably high. If it can't be moved, then long low shelving would work better than a full height unit....See MorePaul W
