What's your dream house feature?
Comments (17)I'm tempted to say a fully redeemed mortgage but I suspect that may not be in the spirit of the discussion, in which case...a stone terrace with a weathered stone water fountain and bird bath overlooking a large, mature garden and orchard. (For some reason, I'm also imagining that this terrace has wireless broadband and a fully-staffed cappuccino bar just out of my line of sight...)....See MoreKitchen in new house is very modern, looking for advice warming it
Comments (20)You could try changing the back-splash. A back-splash taken right across the wall would look much better as it will soften the overall feel and make the room look wider. Here are a couple of photos (you can see more on our web site in the feature about wall murals). Also as tamp75 said, some open shelves and potted herbs would look great and ferny, frond style plants will add a delicate texture to relieve the hard look. Here is a photo of our glass splash back ( if you wanted to go down a green colour scheme) . It is right across a wall and some open shelves and plants above. A great alternative colour is amber/pinky brown - Dead Salmon or Smoked Trout (last photo) from Farrow and Ball would look lovely on the walls if you didn't want to change your back-splash behind the hob, and then you can add wood accessories, shelves and plants. And finally you could add some pattern- The photo below shows Ca Pietra Trellis tiles which we can supply for walls and flooring...See MoreBattle of The Period Bedrooms
Comments (6)Hi Resh, you are correct the new bedrooms are one of the more contemporary elements found in the property. if you are interested in the period side of the work I would recommend checking out the entire project page which gives you more of an idea about how some of the property's original features have been incorporated into the refurbishment: https://www.houzz.co.uk/projects/2949468/renovation-and-ground-floor-extension-of-period-home...See MoreAdvice on adding a fireplace or feature for 60s townhouse
Comments (8)Thanks for that, Jonathan. Fancy you recognising my street! Small world!! I did see one of electric fires last week and agree they look very good, so I’ll have a proper look at those. Pricier than the ethanol but maybe worth it. I do like the side by side look. Just wasn’t sure how to create the shelf part or where to get them from. I prefer a stone or cement type look rather than bright modern white as I want a mid century feel....See MoreJames
