Kitchen Extension, Pendant lighting when breakfast bar under the steel
Comments (12)Hi Moggles i have a similar renovation starting and have the same thoughts re pendant lighting from steel. Are you actually allowed to have anything coming from the steel itself or won't this negate the fire proofing measures put in place ? So if you are allowed to hang directly from under the steel the next concern is the head height as looking at your photos it does look limited. I have actually bought 2 pendant fittings so i can decide when the time is right which is going to look best. One is a standard pendant with 3 lights dropping from it ... quite ordinary. The other is a long thin led bar that i thought could be hung with as much or little drop from the ceiling as required. It's quite similar to this but i think slimmer (it doesn't seem to be available now :/ ) http://www.litecraft.co.uk/quartz-rectangular-led-ceiling-pendant-chrome In fact it's really similar to the one shown by Modus above ! Will be following this thread with interest to see how you progress !...See MoreWidth of Counter top to allow for breakfast bar? – urgent advice pls
Comments (12)I think you see bars (serving beers) with stools and no overhang. These are fine for a social setting where one person might be sitting with their back to the bar chatting to others in the room. If you intend to use the bar for food you need to face the island so will need the recommended leg room. Could you swap the 600 deep cabinets for 300mm deep? The cost of new carcasses might not be too bad. You should also talk to your kitchen fitter as he may be able to install them after the quartz....See MoreLighting for breakfast bar
Comments (18)Hi, One of our most recent lighting installations was in a kitchen very similar in colour and style to yours. The pendants are obsidian in colour and are made of mouth-blown glass which whilst being nice and strong have a delicate and elegant look. We are really pleased with how they have finished this kitchen off and our customer tells us they are a real talking point. I hope this has given you some inspiration.
