garden inspiration
Comments (11)Adding to my previous comment, if anyone goes for the simplicity idea with seating at both ends to let you view the length of the garden, make sure the seating areas are offset to each other or it will look like goal posts. I notice though that you have quite a slope downwards. In my last modern house, this was a real problem but my husband built up a platform about a metre and then we created the summer house, pavilion, bistro area. Opposite corner was a large raised blocks of wood vegetable plot. We planted fruit trees along the bottom which meant we were looking across the tree canopy and had an abundance of fruit. Visiting my friends professionally landscaped modern Mediterranean square yesterday, designed on the 45 degree angle with some raised planter areas and bistro seating, there were two elements which held it together beautifully. Bright blue glazed containers everywhere, no exceptions. And reddish planting eg red robins and other shrubs. It is enviable !!...See MoreLooking for inspiration- my small garden is wider than long.
Comments (6)Please post a couple of photos, so we can see the plot from all angles, and its relation to the house. It's good to know where windows and doors are. Sometimes a design for a longer, narrower garden can give you ideas for a shallower garden too. If you turn it on its side, the general idea might work for you. Angled lines or circles will trick the eye into thinking the garden is larger than it really is, because your eyes follow the lines instead of going directly to the end of the garden. Comments (2)I agree that a curved path will help make the top of the garden feel less narrow and add interest to the overall design. Our neighbours put a curved path from their patio to lower garden in a similar space and the difference it made to a very boring, narrow undersigned space was incredible. I agree with AR that limiting materials if possible will help form a cohesive design. It's a lovely space and great to have a blank canvas to be working with. What are your plans for the end of the shed seen from the patio?...See MoreLooking for garden design inspiration using water, sleepers & bed
Comments (2)It may be just me but I’m not sure where you’re thinking about putting in the water feature. If you could draw a basic plan view of the garden, it would help people to give advice....See MoreSophie Dickson
