Ideas to revitalise ensuite

Hi everyone. Have just bought first house and am totally new to interior design so would love some help please. Our house is a newish build and beige everywhere. Looking to smarten up the en-suite. I was thinking pale grey walls and a larger cupboard. Then thought maybe make the grout black but can’t decide if that is a genius idea or a terrible one! I love subway tiles with black grout (sort of modern Victorian style) but for now need to keep the suite and tiles as they are. Yellow towels are new and I love them. Towel rail is kind of annoying because a lot of folding required to make the towels hang neatly. Floor is vinyl but I’m kind of scared of tiling it myself. Any ideas much appreciated ☺

I have the same problem with my towel rails. I swear old style radiators are easier for hanging/warming/drying towels. I'd go for nice stylish hooks on the back of the door. Or even above the towel rail on the wall. Although maybe some domestic god /goddess on here will come and tell us where we're going wrong with the folding.
What's your style? Which bathrooms on Houzz do you love ?
I'd paint the walls, possibly a deep dark blue or even a mustard (though you might need to change your towels again) . Wallpaper incorporating both these colours might be good. A big framed picture (I like sci fi and have bits of it everywhere, but in my smallu shower room above the toilet I have an anatomical poster of gut diseases because it makes me smile) , a plant on the window ledge and some sort of window treatment. It doesn't need to be a blind if you don't need one. I'm in love with macrame hanging planters in front of windows at the moment.

The towel rad is too tiny to put towels on. Can you put up hooks either side of the sink? A burn orange would look nice with the tiles, a dark chocolate brown works well with the towels. If you change the basin for a vanity with storage then you can have a nice flat mirror above which will make the space look a little larger.

Hi All - taking on board your comments I have come up with three variations. Of course would love your comments! The distance from vanity to WC in plan 1 is approx 60cm - it could be made a bit more. This falls within the guideline you posted (23inches). More space could be created by making the shower a bit narrower (shown on all 3 plans as 1m wide (39 inches). I don't think there is quite enough space to divide the room and the problem with the idea of the bath right in the middle is that on a practical basis we would have to walk around it on a daily basis to get to the shower! Could quickly get very annoying!

I like that idea!!! Or turn the bathroom into a walk in wardrobe, add en suite to room 3 and have the en suite as a sole en-suite. It comes down to preference of having the master dressing room to be large with the lovely views or the en-suite.

It really comes down to how many clothes you have and how much space you need to store them, along with where you prefer to get dressed and how you use your ensuite - obviously no point having double sink if you never share the bathroom, but if you're brushing your teeth while the other half is doing their thing in the next sink then this bigger ensuite might work better for you. It all depends on how you want to live, how much stuff you have and where you want to store it. Personally, I think it’s too much of a squeeze for the walk-in-wardrobe. Better off having some built-in or freestanding wardrobes along a wall and have a better sized showeroom.

My bathroom is tiny, so I put a towel rail attached to the door. It’s quite wide and it fits two bath towels folded in half and does look neat. I don’t use bath sheets as they are so cumbersome and huge! I also have a square shaped towel ring by the sink for guests. It’s much easier to keep tidy that a circular towel ring. I agree with Man About and think chocolate painted walls, all or some of them, would go beautifully with the mustard towels and cream tiles. The floor looks fine, unless you want to change it? I’m a great fan of vinyl in a bathroom and there are hundreds of styles to choose from. Tiling a small bathroom floor isn’t easy - so much cutting! Here’s a few ideas

Here are my towels on the rail behind the door and the square towel ring. I have noticed hooks on walls are used a lot for hanging towels on too.

Sam Potter, I love the sound of the diseases posters. And a plant on the windowsill is such a simple idea but would add colour and interest. Dark blue walls is a interesting idea because was planning a dark blue bedroom so could just flow the colour through. Thanks for your ideas ☺️

Man About The House, a vanity unit was my first thought too but it would make getting into the shower difficult because the sink is so close to the shower door. Hooks would have to go on the back of the door I think, except the hand towel which could go next to the sink. Thanks for your help

Forzaitalia, your towel rails look great. I probably should have gone for smaller tiles. I’m not a fan of brown but am now considering dark blue or grey walls. Thanks for your help

Brown isn’t for everyone but I like earthy natural colours. Wouldn’t dark blue look good too? I have navy on one wall in my kitchen and I love it. I think you’re getting some fab ideas here!

Really like the idea of carrying through the navy from bedroom to En-Suite. Can you amend the doors so that they open the other way and the entrance is away from the sink. It seems odd to have the opening at the shower hose end ( opposite of usual ).

Agree changing the shower door opening would be totally worth it to get the vanity in and simplify flow. Also like the idea of Navy.. it would look great.

I also like the idea of adding hooks to the back of the bathroom door to maximize space. Hanging shelves above the toilet would be a nice addition to add plants or any other decorative items that would add a touch of colour to the space.

No pale grey please :)

Pick a wallpaint in glassy turquoise, or peacock, a darker steel grey, petrol, navy, pine green.

Then save some money to re-do the space in the Victorian style you've envisioned.
