Hiding the TV
Comments (15)Dear Hiba. The images below might offer some ideas for your design; we had this made for our client by a local joiner. Cable management is to both the TV and speakers (not shown in these images - they were fitted later, but we had already sourced them so knew the relevant shelf spacing). We also knew dimensions of the TV and the bracket, hence the projection and size of the aperture. We had the option to fit all the hifi equipment, amplifier, blu ray, etc in the unit, but the base would have projected 500mm into the room, so we decided to run the cables in the wall and beneath the floor to a second cabinet out of shot where there was more space. Lighting is a great feature to consider - we recessed low profile LEDs into the shelves (only 8mm deep) so as to hide the fittings but you see the effect of the light. The other thought is to work out what needs to be stored there (hence shelf and drawer sizes), what can be displayed, and what needs to be shut behind closed doors or in drawers. Regarding drawers and doors, depending on your style, your joiner can fit knobs / handles, or you may choose push-to-open cabinetry. The purple sliding doors run smoothly on tracks top and bottom in this case. Hope this helps - thanks. Nick...See MoreDeciding on a tv unit
Comments (10)Homes should be about individuality not breaking the bank. Hide the wires consider a good floor covering perhaps a lovely rug and build with what you have and enjoy the experience if you tire then just move much loved pieces to other rooms for a total new look. I love homes that are about the people who live in them makes me want to stay and have a cuppa your small pic here gives that vibe maybe the warmth of the wood in here im not sure but dont go to mad and spoil the feel that you already starting to create by getting to many boring mass produced highstreet junk in there...See MoreWould appreciate some wall-unit ideas
Comments (0)Hi - We've carried out an extensive refurbishment of our flat, dividing a large open-plan kitchen area which was awkwardly-shaped into two rooms, a study-cum-bedroom with a large internal Crittall-style window, together with a combined lounge-kitchen (see attached photos). But we're struggling to find suitable units to put on the empty lounge wall facing the kitchen: can anyone suggest some specific makes/models of units that would work here? Specifically we would like floating base units (or with very slender feet) on which to put the TV & stereo, plus some mixed wall units + shelving to avoid ending up with too "officey/corporate" a feel -- if you know what I mean! The space is quite limited**. Our current TV is a little too large for the space so we would downsize it and get one with a narrower bezel - things have move on a lot since we bought this one and moved in here! Thanks in advance for any ideas! Bernie ** See marked-up sketch: Distance from corner radiator cover to sofa is 2m, so any floor unit would have to be a maximum of 160cm long to leave leg-room. For the wall units & shelving we have up to 330cm to play with before arriving too close to the corridor. Ceiling height is 252cm. Ideally the depth of any floor units would be no more than 50cm....See Morehelp with colour combinations
Comments (6)The curtains need to be pulled back all the way and the tiebacks removed. Go for a metal hold back to match the rods instead and dont swag at all. Add cushions in light and medium blues and sage. Floor baskets and lanterns in varying heights; some random sofa plaids and pouffes. Put the pair of candlesticks together at one side if the fireplace snd possibly a blue ceramic planted pot at the other side. Arrange an interesting mantel and change the mirror frame to something trendier. The tv unit needs to go, try something more contemporary but not minimalist or new vintage. Statement coffee table of the same style. Go for more lighting - standing lamps and table ones as well as a nice central hanging lamp if you have the electrical position for one. The red in the painting seems okay but you need to add more wall art using pictures with the colours of your palatte as well as other wall hangings - it doesnt have to be all pictures....See MoreEwa Mc
