Mylands. You always regret your economies. I've repainted this kitchen 4X over the years, and last time was in Dulux which wore so poorly. Just custom mixed a new vibrant duck egg to paint my kitchen in marble matt walls, eggshell woodwork, and floor paint. Mylands matched impeccably. It was a dream of coverage, and looks spectacular. The quality of the pigment shows, looks the money, nothing like synthetic mediocre pigments in cheaper paint. It's a big improvement.

Hello Anastasia, I hope you are well. I love the Cole and Son hicks hexagon too and it does look absolutely stunning on the wall. The quality is great too. Both designs will create a WOW and look fabulous and the hall is the place to do it. How best to hide these electrics above our Victorian front door?

Hi - in response to Carol's comment, I attach a photo of what we've done so far. We had the power company come in and move the meter down slightly (that was the bit on the left in the original photo above) and put it onto a smaller backplate for us. Then we had our electrician in to put in a new fusebox. Then we had our carpenter in to make a small box picking up the moulding on the inside front door, which also matches the doors leading off the hallway. We had the plasterer in to make good the area. So far that's where we are as we don't want to paint until we do the whole hallway, and first we need to change the radiator from the old flat panel one to something more in keeping with the property. I particularly resonated with Jonathan's comment above, with the thought that the eye wants to 'read' the ceiling and floor details...we felt a big box going across the whole top of the front door would feel a little 'top heavy' - as we came down the stairs and as you entered the hallway from the kitchen. We are pleased that the footprint of the whole thing was massively reduced. It turns out to be a handy little place to stash a torch as well. Thanks for everyone's comments - it was very much appreciated. Maybe I can send a photo of the final final result once decorated!

The answer simply is probably 'Yes', you could put a door there, however, it makes the bedroom smaller, and it's small already. I believe you'd need to move the wall to put in decent, wider access to the extension. So, two scenario's and as Gina says....................you need a professional on the case. This is what you envisaged.................but I think bed 4 will be too small rough guess 8'10 x 6'8" - a single room...........not awful, and definitely useable. However, I believe it may be possible to put a bathroom at the top, after all, the kitchen is at the back of the house, therefore, i'm guessing there may be drain access. In which case, it's feasable that something more like this may be possible. All depends what you need bedroom wise really. After all, if you only need a small 4th then the top plan is great, as you get three other larger rooms. With the bottom plan, you get 2 large rooms, 1 medium and a better 4th. So, up to you really. I think i'd probably sacrifice bedroom 3 in size and go for plan 1................but it's nice to have options.
