Narrow Kitchen
Comments (20)Hello, You could mount mirror to cupboard doors and this way you would have both you wanted to have. Remember that there is no project that can't be achieved and with a great design you can have what you desired for! Light installation would also help but in my opinion mirror would look amazing, combined together with your contemporary style Kitchen. Comments (20)We were confronted with similar limitations on a project last year. We achieved a layout which I believe optimises the space available. The distance between the kitchen units was 85-90cm. Please see project here. I believe the key area to address with a small kitchen are: storage - favour drawers opposed to doors and explore which internal storage solutions suit your needs lighting - ensure all areas of the kitchen are well-lit worksurface - provide as large an area as possible; induction hobs and undercount sinks with integrated drainer grooves help handleless door/drawer fronts - if a modern kitchen, I'd suggest going for handleless to avoid catching plinth - repeat the same flooring material as plinth to give the illusion that the base units are floating gaps - avoid; build in units wherever possible - cleaning within the tight space will otherwise be cumbersome...See MoreKitchen Refurb - narrow and dark! If you need somewhere to eat, you can swap the table and chairs for a bar and stools with slim cabinets either side. And don't worry about losing the panel radiator. Your plumber can install a hydronic plinth heater that connects into your central heating. I think the key to your colour scheme should start with your new cooker. Have you considered beige cabinet doors in high gloss? They would make your range look integrated and help reflect light around the room. Polished black granite (or laminate) worktop will pick up the black trim on the cooker. The arched lower door of the cooker points toward a more traditional or transitional look for a cooker hood (black) or an integrated hood. Beige and black tiles would keep the walls of the working area scrubbable. Look at metro tiles for a high gloss finish or patchwork tiles for some retro designs. Lastly, change over to LED lighting with warm white lamps. Avoid harsh white light overhead, but don't forget worktop lighting. Good luck and have fun....See MoreShow us your narrow kitchens please!
Comments (13)I think I’m struggling to see the usefulness of a peninsula personally. We are a family of 4 so wouldn’t all be able to sit at it, or even as a 3 while one is cooking. The other disadvantage I see is it doesn’t seem to offer an awful lot of additional counter space. We have a decent length to the room so could extend the counter further if we had to, rather than having a peninsula break the clean line......Personal preference I just can’t take to them. Jonathan - I do love the depth idea, gives a real sense of style and practicality, especially the first picture!.....Thank you. Sonia thank you for the image of your kitchen, as you say at 1.2m that does look snug still so it is hard to imagine less than that gap between a counter and an island! I think the only way I could achieve it is if I made sure things like fridge an oven we’re not in it’s direct path Again thanks for for the advice, keep it coming 👍🏻...See MoreGreenDesigns
