I think I would leave the wall out but have more than one extra quiet extractor to deal with cooking smells. I would also look into increasing the ceiling height to increase the feeling of space.

Hi. Is it a period property? I would add cornicing and then paint the cornicing and ceiling a darker shade than the walls to bring the ceiling down. I think if you did this you could get away with taller cabinets otherwise I think you're in danger of accentuating the ceiling height ( sorry to disagree on this and may well be wrong!) Go for either white units or a cool colour so grey, blue or green. I'd integrate the fridge freezer and maybe carry the units over the top of a cooker hood as pictured so it looks more streamlined. I'd do away with the serving hatch and have open shelves on this ŵall, Alternatively you could have the shelves either side of the cooker hood and units on the sink side as it may feel more spacious given the door position. I don't know if it's your thing but mirrored splashbacks would make the space feel bigger and also bounce more light. I'd also do away with the draining board so you have more worktop space if you have the space for a dishwasher. Do you use the microwave regularly?

Hi so this is what I had in mind. Although it ideal I think it would be too expensive for now to remove that lone cupboard. So an idea would be; 1. Paint the walls white 2. Paint the cupboards pale grey: http://www.farrow-ball.com/paint/Paint-For-Kitchen-Cupboards 3. Get nice oak laminate floor from Homebase or B&Q 4. It may cost between £200 and £300 to fit the floor with underlay. But totally worth it. 5. Cheap grey sofa (maybe not corner sofa) or second hand sofa, max those dimensions on the plan. I bought two cheap ones from Homebase for our back room and they're totally fine. 6. Farmhouse table with bench / Eiffel chairs 7. Tv bench and side table from ikea 8. Is it possible to move the white goods and sink up starting from the 'L' shape heading up towards the stairs, if the units that make up the 'L'shape are about 1800 mm moving that part of the kitchen up would still give a walk through of 7-800 mm to then you fit your dinning table in comfortably in the space where the sink etc were, all plumbing provisions could come from the downstairs wc it would just be the waste that would need a small modification possibly to get it outside. You could also extend the worktop a little on the 'L' shape bit to form a breakfast bar area, unfortunately doing this if possible will mean no room for an island, hope his helps.
