paint colour to go with wallpaper in bedroom

Hi I’m thinking of wallpaper in my new bedroom. Three questions;

1. Should I go for it just on the wall where the headboard is, or the wall with the fireplace as well, or maybe even all over?!
2. Which paper do you think would work in the room better?
3. If I was to go with one of these on just a wall or two, can you suggest paint colours to go with them?!

I’m a bit of a novice and am buying my first house all to myself (post divorce) so keen to make my mark, but really want to get it right.

I would wait until you've got the keys and see how the light in the room is. So many photos are tweaked, and many estate agents are guilty of this!

Definitely won’t make any decisions til I’m in and have had the chance to hang samples and do testers, just struggling to picture even a decor idea really!

Agreed! wall behind the bed, perhaps a mirror on the opposite wall to gain the reflection. If the wallpaper doesnt flow round the room will look disjointed. so either paper one wall or all four. One time we papered a room on three sides (behind the bed and two adjoining walls) and painted the wall which was dominated by three floor to ceiling sash windows in a darker colour so as to contrast with the curtains.

Hi, Sounds like a really fun project, we really love experimenting with wallpaper at Amazing Space it will make a great feature of your space. Love the colour of the bed. I think I'd build your colour scheme around it with the introduction of some pattern and textures. If wallpapering I would just do the one feature wall behind the bed and keep the other walls, bedding, window dressing and accessories in white or neutral colours. I really like the first paper. The easiest thing to do, is when you get the paper and hold it up to the wall, pick one of the colours that you like the most and take the paper to B&Q where they can scan the paper and mix an exact shade in Valspar paint to match.

Agree, wait until you're in and can see it with your furniture and the light etc. The first one jumps out at me though. Just wondering if you'd also seen Ellie Cashman wallpapers or surface view Dutch art murals? They would also work well with the period of the house

It depends on what kind of look you're after. I like both wallpapers, but the first one feels more suitable for a bedroom. If you want a cosy, dark bedroom, you could pick the background colour of the wallpaper for the rest of the walls. But if you want a fresh, light and bright bedroom, simple white or periwinkle perhaps.
