4 year old (big girl) bedroom
Comments (7)Hi. Maybe either go a chalk pink or duck egg on the walls to add some colour. Or alternatively add the colour in the curtains, accessories and bedding. I've attached this chair from alison at home which is on clearance at the moment (found it for another post and think it will suit your room!). Images are from argos and buckeye state. I think bunting can look really good in a girls room and a way to add colour. Or if you went with the 2nd option, maybe add some framed butterfly art on the walls. Having a couple of teddies or strategically placed wooden blocks can keep the room young and look really good. By the way the pinks in these pics are pretty pink but I'd go very pastel or chalk personally and just add splashes of it....See MoreFrench cottage bedroom decor ideas
Comments (17)I think I would prefer to keep the French antique carved wedding bed in original condition as love the warmth of the wood and detailed carving. Would love to change the carpet eventually as money permits. I have a gorgeous antique chest of drawers also in the room but can't get the angle of the camera right. Should the carpet eventually be darker or lighter? I Will look around for some beautiful artwork and add some texture to the bedding. Your input is very helpful, thank you....See MoreHow to give this bedroom the big 3: character, comfort and cosiness.
Comments (12)Thanks for responding to soon, all! To respond to each in turn: Daisy - I definitely agree regarding the chair - just need someone to take the thing off me. The headboard is an issue as it holds the bed together so not sure how smooth replacing it could be. It seems all agree regarding the pictures so down they will come. Leaning towards the curtains, too. Thank you! Jen - The feature wall and knitted throw is a common theme so something I'll look to invest in! Just a case of what way to go with the feature wall and how to have the other walls tied in to it. Hmmm Minnie - as always, thank you. I actually looked at Hague blue but thought it was just too dark, although I'm torn again after seeing that picture. I might get some samples, as I like the contrast and it goes with a few ideas I saw. I had been thinking about a colour more like the one at the top of this post (which I can't move for whatever reason), which isn't too far from Hague blue (not sure of the exact colour right now but recall seeing it). I assume you'd move the bed closer to the window to allow more space with the drawers being by the door. The table by the bed wasn't the best as it's so high and the bed is rather low - to be honest I'll likely move the console table out the room at some point; not decided yet. I need to get a pendant light but figured I'd get it once doing the bigger things - the current light shade is looking very sorry for itself. A mirror does need inserting (something my girlfriend reminds me of weekly) - would you say a full-length onejust to the right of the wardrobe entrance? Your colour scheme - with the greys and mustards - sounds good, too!...See MoreNeed to fit a big bathroom in loft, any ideas?
Comments (36)Karen, to be honest with you, you do not really need the council's approval (or Lawful Develpment Certificate). As long as you are absolutely sure that what you are doing is within PD, you can just go ahead. The LDC is for future buyers, and can be gained retrospectively. I didn't wait for it on either of my projects - by the time it came from Lambeth I had basically finished the outside of the loft. It is absolutely critical that if you do this, you make sure your plans are compliant though...with loft conversions that is mainly making sure that you do not exceed the maximum additional volume measurements, and that the dormer is set back 20cm from the edge of the original roof. Do make sure your builder is on top of the necessary building control notifications and inspections though - this takes much more effort, and is nothing to do with planning, and absolutely compulsory. Happy to tell you more about this/answer questions: you have my e-mail address. Everything from the specification of windows, through insulation depth required, to position of plug sockets is controlled and needs to be correct. In my experience, plenty of builders don't know enough about the regs and bodge things. https://www.planningportal.co.uk/info/200130/common_projects/120/what_to_do_next/3...See MoreKK1000
