Worktop not big enough- any options?
Comments (6)You didn't say what material the worktop was? If it is solid wood (you mentioned a joiner fitting it) perhaps he could make end caps to add to the width. I have seen them done in a different wood to make a statement e.g. Walnut end caps on oak worktop....See MoreBig enough for range cooker?
Comments (7)Thanks for comments, this isn't my kitchen, appliance layout yet to be decided for mine, not sure if we will have a dishwasher at all but I have had the same advice in the past about not putting it in corner and will keep that in mind. Although I know that the full size range will 'fit' I am wondering more on an aesthetics level, if it will look odd having a huge cooker in this size of space?...See MoreEnough space for a dining room table in open plan living space?
Comments (17)I’m no good at drawing floorplans but womdered if this would work: - Keep the island but turn it 90 degrees to face the garden. You will probably need to drop to 2 bar stools - Shorten the kitchen run with the sink and hob on it. One of those may need to go on the island - Dining table goes in front of the doors to the garden, parallel to the island and to the doors - then in the space in between your island and your dining table, basically under the big steel, you put a small sofa on the kitchen side of the room and a tv on the opposite wall. Yes it’s a walk way but this is not your main tv watching area, it’s just for the kids while you prep lunch etc....See MoreIs this going to be big enough?
Comments (5)Hi. I think this will be fine. I would put the table at the top of your plan near the windows and the door to the garden. I would then put your kitchen on the right hand side of the wall that you enter and then up the right wall and have a peninsula coming from the right hand wall across the middle of the room. If you leave about 3m for the dining side that leaves you 2.5m for the kitchen area which is the 60cm back row of tall units (where I would have the fridge and ovens) a 1m gap with units on the right (probably your sink) and then a 90cm wide peninsula for your hob and you could have bar stools tucked under a 30cm overhang on the dining side (but be mindful of safety/spatter issues). It’s worth plotting it out to see if it would work. Not sure where your washing machine would fit once you get rid of the utility but could it maybe go under the stairs if there is enough space taking into account the cloakroom? Anyway, that’s what I would be investigating....See MoreJade Davis
