Need to tame my craft room/home office
Comments (3)Hi Karen, I have a space like that as well! But I have spread it all around my house, the only 'safe' place left is the bathroom. How is the lighting in your space? Do you have a window? Its important depending on this as you have to design with this in mind. You don't want to feel claustrophobic in your creative space. Do you need a permanent desk/craft table or are you expected to have items such as computer and phone on your desk. You can make a sturdy table that can be folded up to the wall and when in use can come back down. This same table can have smart storage solutions placed on them (mechanical addition) so it would be a rack storage when up or down. Comments (10)I'd put the day bed in the opposite corner behind the door going lengthwise to the window. The day bed will be too high for the low window and may look odd. Plus, i think the change will allow for better wardrobe and drawer space. As it is going to double up as a guest bedroom, do you really want all of your stuff on show with open shelving? I'd maybe try the Ikea Pax system, easy to buy what you want and fairly easy to construct, but i would have doors. You have to decide between walk in wardrobe or bedroom with wardrobes. Alternatively, maybe consider a high bed with wardrobes and storage underneath with extra on the other walls. By having something purpose built it will allow for more versatility and more floor space. They certainly don't have to be childlike these days. I'd post dimensions if i were you,...See MoreDesperate need for some inspiration and advice for guest room/ office
Comments (15)I would go very modern and clean, you don't have to spend a lot of money. Painting the walls white would be a cheap and easy way to brighten the space. The add personality with accessories, art work and bedlinen. Have a look at our Ikea hacks https://www.thedesignerandthedecorator.co.uk/journal/diy-furniture Ikea Rast chest of drawers could make nice bedsides. Also for wardrobe, You could install an open hanging system from ikea like the photo below Or with a little bit of budget Sharps wardrobes could make a custom wardrobe around the bed And a lift up storage bed also helps with a small space...See MoreVery small Dressing room with awkward window
Comments (14)I love wumi's design too. If that gives you enough hanging/shelf space I'd def recommend the dressing table under the window in a right angle arrangement. I've got a, very similar sized room I've changed into a dressing room. Until recently I had the dressing table on the other wall running parallel with the wardrobes, thinking that was the best arrangement. But having to use the room for an office as well I moved the dressing table/desk under the window (I can't blur the background on my video calls and have open wardrobes) Its made a huge difference and given me so much more floor space in a very small room....See MorePeter Butler
