garden shed for storage

we have a garden shed made of metal. It condenses a lot and rain water is leaking inside this makes all things mouldy and rusty.
if i have to redo my shed what is the cost effective and best shed which does not condense at winter.
does a store bought one is fine i have to hire a builder to make a brick one.
or shall i correct the existing one to reduce condensation.
please advise

All depends on your budget and what you need it for. Get the best you can afford. Brick would be the best, but also the most expensive.

If you wanted timber, 90% of off the shelf sheds are poor construction. Custom built timber shed on site would be better. Most metal sheds suffer from damp...high humidity, cold metal, condensation = damp and mould.

If you wanted to repair your shed, fix all the leaks, and then insulate the inside to stop the condensation.

Hi Minnie I need IN-ground, not ON .. ideally don't want to lose any space you see. If one could sink one of those into the ground it would be okay but i suspect that they would not cope with the pressure of the earth around them or people walking on the lid. I also doubt that they could sit flush with the surrounding ground without water ingress through the lid.

The box is locked with a mortice key (5 lever) and a lock that is welded into place. Not sure you can see the key hole on this image - but it is there. It’s also welded to the ground and is made of structural steel - using intimidation tactics to dissuade the opportunist. The added security is that it’s actually disguised as a planter and so most people are surprised to find it provides nearly 4sqm of extra storage. If you are in London, come for a tour!

I have to say, a friend has a very similar set up because they are short of space - and theirs works really well. They still have gates / wide doors at either end, but it has allowed them to put shelves and hooks etc on the walls to help with storage. It isn’t ideal - but if it’s the only storage option that you have, it can work well. The only thing they have found is that it can become a bit of a dumping ground for things, so they are mindful about keeping it tidy.

It will depend on how soon you intend to level up the garden and what you intend to use the shed for / if you intend to put something infront. It will be more expensive but easier to level the shed up before its built then have to empty it, take it down and bring it up. You could raise it on a brick wall base but if its going to be concealed from view rather then open there seams little point in going to the hassle of bringing it up.
