How best to create an en suite bathroom?
I’m keen to ask people’s opinions on how to best create an en-suite bathroom in our home. We are considering creating a larger main bathroom by knocking through and combining the current toilet and bathroom. Our first thoughts were to use space in the main bedroom to create an en suite and would welcome peoples opinion on how best to do that, but now I am wondering if we should sacrifice the fifth bedroom knocking through to the current toilet to make a main bathroom and use the current bathroom as an en-suite to bedroom 2?
We don’t use the fifth bedroom (other than storing clutter)but wonder which option would add more value to the property?

Comments (7)Gina, I'm not really sure why i put it there to be honest!! The suggestion to locate the shower as shown on Jonathan's plan obviously makes much more sense! Some of my design thought was based on me thinking the toilets would need to be on the same wall so as to use the same soil pipe, not sure if this is just my incorrect logic though!??? Jonathan, I understand what you are saying about incorporating the cupboard space into bedroom 3 but if you remember back the plan (see below) was to create a study/bedroom from the hallway, old wc and landing cupboard. It wouldn't be possible to do this if we divided bedroom 3 into two rooms as they'd be no access to the far bedroom. Your plan would leave me with no more bedrooms than i have now and with a smaller bed 3. We could of course incorporate the cupboard space into bed 3 rather than the bathroom, making it an even bigger room but I'm slightly reluctant to as this room is one that has been finished....See MoreBefore & After of a Master En-Suite Bathroom

Comments (2)I don’t believe you have the space for a small separate shower on the family bathroom and it’s in a tight corner for access. If the bath is going to be used so sporadically why not just go for a large shower instead or a shower over bath for the best of both?...See More

4 years agolast modified: 4 years agoBedroom 2 is really too large to be just an En-Suite. Bedroom 5 is too small.
5 beds and 3 bathrooms is worth the most provided that they all give a good amount of room.
Extend Bed 5, Split Bed 2 into an En-Suite and a Shower Room & Merge the stand alone toilet and bathroom together to make a really good size Family Bathroom.
