Silestone vs Apollo granite worktop (or other options)

Hello!

I have a Silestone granite worktop (Calacutta Gold) and cannot fault it but it was very very expensive. I am moving and will need to redo the kitchen with a much smaller budget than before but want a similar look. Can anyone compare Apollo to Silestone? Cost, wear and colour range. Photos are welcome! As are alternate products to research. I am in SE England.

You've just picked an expensive color. Brand have different price ranges too.

When you like a more expensive top, have them make an offer for you in 2cm thick. Since these slabs come in 2cm, finishing the edges is easier, thus cheaper.

any quartz worktop is usually not considered as a more expensive than granite. If you want cheaper option and don't mind to stick with quartz, go for a different manufacturer. There is Unistone, Cimstone, Technistone, Ceaserstone... Calacatta design become very popular nowadays so a lot of mentioned above might have such an option.

Problem with silestone worktop

We are about to get a cosentina silestone worktop and large island fitted. It is costing a lot of money. We previously had a granite worktop which was very durable but i just didnt like the aesthetics of granite. We are also getting an integrated sink. What sort of bevelled edge do i ask for at the sink? I'm confused by the measurements? Is it better to go for 3mm bevelled edge? We were offered another quartz from the company which they buy in bulk and so was cheaper but i was thinking the cosentina silestone was a better option given they were a well known brand! Have other quartz counters just the same issues??

OceanHomes- it's already been painted as seen in picture with Cornforth Re Silestone etc- I personally have a strong dislike to man made stones because they have no life. Marble and granite on the other hand have depth and beauty. I see your point re other colour. I have looked at white and grey granites but non of available ones have a striking pattern. Hi Rowen, I can't quite identify the knobs/handles in Claire's images (and there are quite a few others in this thread!), but we may be able to help source what you are looking for. We have a variety of hadle suppliers, but one of our favourite for "cup & knob" in a variety of lovely finishes is Crofts & Assinder - crofts.co.uk - a really great, British company with some lovely designs and finishes. Have a browse of the website and see if any are close to what you seek. If you give me an idea of which is the style you particularly like, happy to try and help.
