Need help for my Master Bathroom en-suite layout
Comments (24)Hi All - taking on board your comments I have come up with three variations. Of course would love your comments! The distance from vanity to WC in plan 1 is approx 60cm - it could be made a bit more. This falls within the guideline you posted (23inches). More space could be created by making the shower a bit narrower (shown on all 3 plans as 1m wide (39 inches). I don't think there is quite enough space to divide the room and the problem with the idea of the bath right in the middle is that on a practical basis we would have to walk around it on a daily basis to get to the shower! Could quickly get very annoying!...See MoreWhat sort of vanity unit would suit this bathroom?
Comments (4)I am in the middle of doing a similar style bathroom. I picked up an antique washstand for hardly any money on eBay with a marble top. I painted it french grey and am putting a freestanding basin and taps on it. It takes a bit of time an effort to make good and paint, but if you have the time it saves a lot of money and you have something that looks far better than off the peg modern versions....See MorePale avocado bathroom suite. Comments (15)I would describe this as a pampas coloured suite- you can likely get a replacement toilet seat now you know what to internet search for although bamboo would be a good choice too. I stand by earlier advice to find a grey/green neutral paint. I think Farrow and Balls Old White would be a great choice for this suite and for your Victorian house and personally I think a cohesive grey/green/white theme will look very polished, clean and classical. I think the pattern on the wall paper is a cool idea but I think that wallpaper is not a practical choice in a bathroom and perhaps a patterned rug or roller blind would be a better way of introducing pattern- personally I would continue the chrysanthemum theme since you already have the picture. Personally I think you will feel entirely different about the suite if you paint the wood and floor. I would choose a soft white which I think is a classy way of freshening up the look. A lino would be a great later addition and I would choose a limestone tile effect and I bet that this would only cost £70 plus fitting. By all means experiment with a grout pen but you might get a better finish by regrouting in a mid grey- This is fairly easy to do yourself. I love your idea for lots of accessories. In my opinion go big like your chrysanthemum picture. Perhaps you could remove the current mirror, shelf and toothbrush holder and get a new bigger mirror that covers any gaps or holes in the tiles. Personally I would make the window softer with a sheer curtain held to one side. I would put a shelf unit or painted cabinet on the wall behind the Bath taps. I would also swap the one small towel rail above the radiator for two long rails so that you have lots of room for towels for everyone....See MoreBathroom with peach suite - colour scheme to update please?
Comments (26)Toria - are you able to take some more recent photos that show a little more of the room? Your last post mentions mixing a colour for below the picture rail, but I can’t see a picture rail in the photo. Can I also ask a delicate question - I’ve read your post several times and appreciate the emotional ties, but what is the purpose of this makeover? Is this a house that you personally live in and will remain in, or are you preparing to put it on the market? The outcome of that question could result in different suggestions! If you intend to remain in the house, go with whatever makes you happy. Sadly, if the aim is to get it into a sellable condition, buyers are likely to want as neutral as possible because the reality is that they may very well rip it out and start again. For what it’s worth, I think your blue tones are not quite muted enough - they are all quite bright. I’m also not sure about having the peachy colours with the blue colours, one above the other separated by a picture rail or dado rail. You might be better sticking to just one colour throughout - especially as you have a coloured suite plus the tiles. Any more than that could look very busy (unless it’s a huge bathroom!!)....See MoreHU-766992223
