Composite Door Rescue

Hi I'm hoping someone can offer some advice for my front door. I have just purchased the house which is about 15 years old and the previous owners have painted the composite front door with what looks like satin wood paint. They haven't done a great job, it's cracked in places, large brush marks, and runs. Can it be sanded down and repainted? Is there a special paint for composite doors?Any advice on how to fix and restore it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

For me it would be looks, insulation and being able to repaint in the future....so more questions if anyone is patient enough with me! 1. Can a composite door be repainted in the future? 2. Is there a benefit in keeping the house warm? I am wondering if the actual body of the door is an insulator, so is a composite door filled with something to insulate against the the cold or is a wooden door as 'warm'. Or is the insulating factor dependent on the quality of either door; good composite, good wood is better than cheaper versions of both? 3. Again about insulation, is the 'warm' factor not linked to the body of the door at all but to the fit in the frame? The wooden door we will be replacing, due to the build, will open straight into the kitchen. Hadnt expected this to be quite as confusing. Thanks to those for advising.

Composite door with UPVC sidelights - will I hate it?

Morning! We went with a chartwell green wood effect composite door which looks quite authentic itself. We had an original leaded window on the side of the porch which nobody could see which the door people restored and put into secure double glazing panels for the door and sidelights. The UPVC shiny white frame, I don't like so much. But as you see there is a lot of frame so it would have been a lot more money to do in in green frame. It is also safe and keeps the house warmer. On balance, I'm happy with the compromise. Still have plans down the line to redo the front garden (well make it into a garden and not a breezeblock parking lot for multiple cars we don't own - but the previous owners with older children did). Thinking Med garden with low level fencing in charteuse green, lavenders, beige gravel etc. Maybe cypress or olive trees left and right of the door. I'm sure that will improve the whole frontage and take emphasis away from the frame.
