Shall I get rid of Artex?
Comments (27)I've finally had it done, all, painted and downlights fitted! The difference is amazing, obviously it looks far better but also the additional lighting which I have now included with warm white bulbs makes a huge difference - all surfaces look brighter and larger and the whole house looks much more modern. £1630 very well spent. I had 4 rooms done in total. Pics before and after are not that exciting as it's hard to make a ceiling look interesting, but here they are anyway!...See MorePainting fitted wardrobes?
Comments (62)Hello fhparis I painted my 1980's fitted dark brown wardrobes a year ago. I was able to remove a shelf which i used to practice on and to get an idea of the finish i could achieve. Or indeed if i could do it. Your wardrobes are lighter in colour which is a plus. I mentioned the products i used in an earlier post. Dont underestimate how long it will take to do. I think i applied 3 undercoats and at least 3 top coats. It was well worth the effort and cost a fraction of buying new wardrobes. The pics show 2 sets of painted wardrobes. Best of luck with your project...See MoreHow to get rid of Moss on Drive Tarmac??
Comments (6)I’ve recently been using this stuff: https://www.amazon.co.uk/ULTIMA-PLUS-XP-Killer-Cleaner-Remover/dp/B017KOUDNW Mixed up the required dilution in a 5 litre pump pressure sprayer and I’ve been using it on the patio, drive, walls, fences, etc. It does the job. Needs to be done on a dry day (8hrs plus) to really work but once dry it’s safe for pets and children. After a few days you can brush scrape up the dead moss as required. I prefer not to use the powered pressure sprayer such as a Karcher because of blasting out joints from between paving but on tarmac this should be fine and you could then apply moss killer after cleaning to prevent it returning as quickly. I don’t think there is any method to permanently keep moss away but treatment with this kind of chemical 2-3 times a year should keep it at bay and more importantly, no back breaking scrubbing! :-) There’s another one on Amazon called Wet & Forget with good reviews but at nearly twice the price I was unwilling to pay for it:) The Ultima plus has a high concentration of the active chemical so a little goes a long way....See MoreOld fashioned fitted wardrobes, what should I do with them ?
Comments (18)Hi, there’s no great need for backs and base on the wardrobe. My parents don’t have them it gives more space. Dividers you’ll get at a timber merchant. But if you prefer a proper base B&Q will cut wood to size or it could be better putting some cheap wood flooring in if easier to cut or a fresh piece of carpet. Otherwise I’d wash down the walls and a good hoover and you’re good to go. https://kitchenandbedroomdoors.co.uk does wardrobe doors. For a modern look I would recommend non-gloss/Matt white, pale grey or pale-caramel colours, plain or shaker style design doors, and either door types with no handles required(it won’t date), black handles or brass handles. Depends of course on your preference. I would advise getting someone to hang the doors otherwise you’ll be fixated on any slight imperfections! Personal experience 😉 If you want handles the right choice makes a huge difference and there are loads of cool places online. Check out other peoples wardrobes in Houzz for ideas. Have fun!...See MoreZat Toos
