Would you mind sharing sources for the rug, and for the chair in the farthest corner of the room (not the leather one, but the upholstered one with a floor lamp next to it)?

I know a lot of people spend time taking down walls in old cottages to claw back space. However, i'd put the wall back where the stairs are. You can then make this in to a coat / storage cupboard. It creates a plain canvas. No offence, but the bannisters are not original and in my opinion detract from the original period features. Therefore, putting the wall up will actually make the room look larger and disguise the hand rail. The other problem is two radiators. A room of these dimensions should not need two raidators. Therefore, remove the one from under the window giving you back more space and if necessary up rate the one behind the sofa. Bring the small sofa forwards to the Upright post thus letting the radiator do it's job. I think you probably have room for a small armchair to the right of the fireplace at the bottom of the stairs, but for now i've shown in to the left.

I think one of the biggest problems in your lounge is where the radiator has been positioned. Ordinarily they would sit in the bay, and yours has been moved to the internal wall fairly opposite the fireplace. Can you move that? Also, the door is not in a great place as it too hinders sofa placement. The rad and the door are both in the way. Although it seems like a radical move, it is really essential to move both of them for an optimum layout as the room is not wide enough to place sofas across like this:- I like the blinds, and the rug and you could certainly work with those colours. If you want added plushness at the windows to make it more cosy, then put up curtains with a nice chunky wooden pole too. The mirror is a bit large for the fireplace, so I would change that. I'd probably also change the shelving system to the left of the fireplace. It dominates the room, and doesn't match so well with the one on the right. Swapping the T.V to the left hand side makes it shielded from the windows and is a slightly better place for it.

Hi. What a gorgeous house :) Given you are starting from scratch, have you considered hiring an interior designer? Preferably one whom passes on their trade discounts which will negate the design fees :) if not, i assume you're after a modern country style? What colours do you like? Do you have a photo of the table and chairs? I can't see any rattan chairs if I'm on the right website :) Also what kind of budget do you have for furnishing the 3 rooms? Do you have a photo of the main bedroom and do you have a floor plan with measurements? The kitchen is beautiful. It doesn't look dark in the photos, I would personally live with it for a few months and see how you feel. If it is dark, it may be the worktop. What's behind the range oven? Maybe you could have an antiqued mirror splashback to bounce some light? Do you also know the head height over the island as the ceiling there looks a little low for pendants but it may be the photo

😂 You're welcome I'm just putting your ideas together in one place! I used the walnut table but as I said before I think it may need a rug against the dark floor but see what you think. The rug size may be do'able (8x10), you would need to tape it out when you're in the house so it doesn't encroach on the bar stool area. I have zero photoshop skills so just chose a rug I could edit in but just to give you an idea (Although obviously the table is the wrong way round!). Maybe have the clock over the table to zone it and bounce some light and some marble and brass shelves would look great by the breakfast bar?
