Help pulling this kitchen together
Comments (14)Hi. I love the upcycling! I agree with feioi. I'd go for an inky blue on the bottom cabinets ( and the chairs) and a lighter neutral ( creamy greige) on top with an even lighter neutral on the walls. This kitchen by mowlem is in Farrow and ball railings and purbeck stone. I'd go for a white worktop, preferably a marble effect. I love the idea of copper handles but there don't seem to be that many around and could work out pretty expensive. I've found one stockist but ebay may be worth a try.http://allhandlesandpulls.co.uk/handlesandpulls/cabinet-pull-handle-7032-polished-copper-beslag-design.html if not, I'd look at chrome and nickle as they'd also look great against both an inky blue and the red. I've just changed all of mine for £150 and it makes a massive difference. I'd actually remove that ŵall hung unit. I'd also look at a floor lamp in the corner by the sofa with a Few prints over the sofa, maybe some typography, a newspaper art and then something modern with a splash of red to tie in with the table and sofa? and a large mirror above the table to bounce some light around. Add a navy geometric throw, this one is from John Lewis with some grey, navy, white cushions. Do you actually need curtains or blinds for privacy, security etc? I would be tempted to at least do away with the kitchen blind to let light in....See MoreF&B black blue vs off black kitchen units
Comments (115)Hello! It’s arrived but is being fitted Monday :0) The colour wasn’t quite what I wanted as although it’s not supposed to have any blue in it, if can look blue in some lights. I don’t mind it looking deep navy but sometimes it looks lighter. Will see when it’s all up though as with the worktop on the island and overhang, it will probably just look more black! Bear in mind the company didn’t use actually F&B paints as they mix their own. Definately advises paying for a test door first as they got the colour totally wrong at first (was bright blue!) and it was hard work getting the manufacturers to check it and do it again. They almost didn’t....See MoreFeedback on kitchen design
Comments (17)Hi - looks like the DW is to the right of the sink - this would be a trip hazard between hob and sink and also means you can’t easily unload dishes from DW into wall units ( unless you have arms like MrTickle ) Also - tricky to see well on my phone - but looks like there’s no clearance space between oven and the run of tall units ? So the over doors may clip any handle projection on the pantry cabinets ? I totally agree with all of the previous comments re changing most cabinets for drawers, which are more convenient to use. So basically a reasonable start, but needs a few tweaks to make it better in my experience!...See MoreURGENT white & navy paint names needed for north facing room
Comments (43)Hi Tani. Mmmm. Mixing colours by hand can be tricky in large quantities which is why I suggested taking a small sample of your existing paint first and and seeing how other colours change it. For sampling you can use any acrylic paint (acrylic has similar properties to emulsion) as you’re just trying to identify which colour you need for mixing, could be other tester pots, kids acrylic paints, artists acrylics etc. but when doing the final mix I would use the same brand and finish paint. In theory (and from memory) to make a dark navy blue lighter and warmer you’d need more of a dirty peach colour then add this to the navy at approx 1 part peach to 10 navy then add more if needed. All a matter of trying and testing. Having said all this it may be possible to sell the paint you have now (after all navy is popular atm) and get another colour....See MoreHampstead Design Hub
