Faux wooden window blinds

I'm thinking of faux wooden blinds for my kitchen windows of which I have 4. The walls will be painted in a light cream colour and I'm not sure whether to have light oak effect blinds or a darker cream. I don't want it to look bland and I may have false curtains on 2 of the windows. The units in the kitchen are an ivory.off white colour.

Pics of the space helps folks understand the context of the dilemma. Make sure you wait for the pic to go fully clear before hitting the Post button though.

If you have any pics that would be great, from the sounds of it though I think providing it’s the only wood colour in the space the wood effect would add some more colour and character than a darker cream.

Hi Lisa, I completely understand your dilemma, I'm moving house soon and have exactly the same type of window as you. My suggestion would be to have a Voile roller blind, as I know that you said you don't like Voile curtains. This would be a great way of keeping your privacy in the room, whilst still allowing plenty of light into your room. I'd then pair this with Dorma Window Curtain Poles (the would be to the side of the recess rather than within). I've attached images of both of my suggestions below. We have those blinds in an outdoor room. The gap is a lot bigger than 0.5mm I'd say over a cm and maybe more in places, as the slats migrate side to side with the constant up and down motion. This is as close as i could get, butting them up together as you need room for the ends to flip over and close, otherwise you can't get the blinds in the fittings. ( the right one needs a tap with a hammer, the fixings are quite frustrating! ) Not that bothered as is an outside room, but you get the gist hopefully. If you want something with no gaps then I'd suggest going for proper shutters, they look a lot better than blinds.

Palest cream would be nice, but keep away from “clotted cream” type colour as it can look dingy, well that’s what I think anyway! A soft warm white would look lovely too. You can get Venetia blinds dusters from Lakeland and other retailers which speed up cleaning.
