Bedroom advice - finishing touches!
Comments (45)Hello again all and sorry for the delay! i have now got a throw and started to extend my gallery over the corner. I grabbed an old chair and rug that were kicking about in my parents' garage and put them in the corner to give me some idea of what i want. actually, i kinda like the beat-up chair but i don't think the rug looks right. is it too small? Now i have the reddish throw (LOVE it... from the Avoca shop in Belfast - amazing place, if you are ever in Belfast do go!!) I am actually considering replacing my blind because i prefer red tones to the turquoise. Just not sure what I would get instead? Still need a fab lamp and more cushions but wisdom says wait for the January sales! I still think I need something more eyecatching on my vanity too... Considering a map above my bed but I don't know if it would compete with the gallery wall too much? have to say i do love the "hello" sign!...See MoreChimney breast wall smaller than the headboard
Comments (26)Hi, I would love to see the end result if you do have any pictures.. My room has no real wall to put bed against.. one alcove is 100cm.. the other 120cm however it slopes where roof is, the goes into a large L or maybe even a L and another backwards L.. Did you just get the bedroom chimney breast taken out and/pr downstairs too?...See MoreI need some things to complete our bedroom!
Comments (41)I would put the pair of glass candle lamps together on the right side chest and opt for sidelamps with more oomph - something bigger and squat. You could also add other ornaments in different heights grouped together - don't split matching items too symmetrically, balance is key but symmetry may be boring. A geometrically patterned rug or two will look nice alonside the bed and/or at the foot of it. A narrow console unit would look nice beneath the tv; you could go for vintage as your style is very simple. Don't be afraid to dare a little - playing safe is not always the safest!!! Add a comfy reading chair with lampstand and cushions and a footwarmer or plaid on the bed and some more wall art - the heart is a great start but add more. Think layers. You have a great basic palate to funk it up a lot!...See MoreBed under window
Comments (14)Oh, I did mean to write earlier that I usually advise clients to shy away from making a feature wall a wall that has doors or windows because bold patterns in wallpaper and windows can work against each other easily. Not always so of course, but can easily happen, which is why I would say use the upholstery fabric as your feature rather than wallpaper. That might be a lot going on - headboard, feature wall, curtains. If you want wallpaper, my advice would be to do the whole room which could be wonderful, then the above rule doesn't really apply. (Check out Cole and Sons wallpaper - they have some wonderful patterns this season that would suit a Victorian home beautifully). But if this is the case, I would go with a more neutral shade in the window treatment. Good luck!...See MoreAnton Onipchenko
