Comments (10)A Fire might be a nice cosy touch ... If you don't sleep there could you move the bed and have more storage instead ? The freestanding furniture doesn't mix with the modern look to be honest ! Most dressing rooms we design have lots and lots of wardrobe space, extensive shoe and boot space and then usually drawers and seating area , like an island in the middle, - with hair dying area with mirrors and more mirrors behind so you can see your whole outfit before you leave the room .......See MoreDesign Dilemma for Bedroom Bay Window in Victorian House
Comments (25)Hi, I live in a Victorian house too with a bay - and had a similar dilemma. Someone on a forum recommended a company in Wales (I think!) that make lovely iron curtain poles - so that’s what we did, and we’ve never looked back!! The company have a (basic) website - it explains how to measure (you have to do several measurements which they then use to ensure a perfect fit!). The pole arrived as one solid piece that was bent at all the right places. We chose a gorgeous white with simple small white balls as the finals. You can choose different thicknesses of pole too. It’s attached to the wall with 3 fittings - one in the middle and one at each end. In theory we could have just two wide curtains on it, but in reality we chose to hang 4 curtains - one on each end and one in each corner to pull across the back. We went for white as we didn’t want the heavy look of the black poles - our house had those when we moved in and we wanted something a bit different and more neutral. We hung light white curtains to start with but currently have a heavy dark grey velvet. Both looked great with the pole as it’s very unobtrusive. I can’t remember the cost but I do remember it being cheaper than I was expecting - more than Ikea (!!) but less than John Lewis - and it’s totally bespoke and one one solid pole. They are called Celtic Dreams... https://mob.curtainpoles.co.uk/index.html...See MoreBedroom curtain/blind/shutter/window dilemma!
Comments (8)Like anything a lot will depend on budget. You can get blinds which install onto the frame of the window itself (assuming these are a upvc type?). The blinds sit within a track which you clip to the frame (look at Perfect Fit blinds), various options including blackout - not a particularly cheap option though. You could consider having one long track across the ceiling or above the window openings - you can get tracks that provide ability to have two (or more!) Sets of curtains. So you could have a lighter mesh/voile type for privacy but daylight and then a heavier fabric with blackout lining that you pull across at night. Going for a 'wave' heading rather than pencil pleat gives a very neat, high end look especially if you get the track as high as possible so it's essentially floor to ceiling curtain. Very luxe-y but again quite dear depending on curtain fabric. Having said that IKEA do do the tracks for multiple curtain sets so there are more budget ways to get the look....See Morelarge bedroom window - blind or curtain?
Comments (5)Hi Emily O, a ceiling fixed roman blind would look lovely. Blinds 2 Go or Blinds Direct have some great options along with Dunelm and John Lewis. You could opt for a pattern in the room if your walls are neutral, it all depends what else is in the room.
