Advice on curtains to go with wallpaper?

Hi, could someone advise on what colour curtains you might put with this wallpaper please? It’s on one wall in a bedroom with dark wood furniture. The curtains I currently have don’t look great with it!

Lovely paper. I think plain curtains would be good as they won’t clash with the paper. Choose a shade from the wallpaper such the beige or duck egg (or is it grey?). Dunelm sell really nice ready made curtains as do John Lewis and Laura Ashley.

Hi there

I also think plain curtains are the best fit here. Patterned or printed material would just clash with the wallpaper. The wallpaper has gorgeous subtle and muted colours, so it won't be too difficult to colour match.
If you want your wallpaper to stand out and be the focal point of the room, then try going for the neutral colour for the curtains instead of the blue.

A belated THANK YOU to everyone who commented. This is the final result. We're super happy with it. Room A north facing "through-lounge" in a new build, 3 bed semi detached house Paint Walls: Purbeck Stone, Farrow & Ball Ceiling: Strong White, Farrow & Ball By the way, the room isn't as long and skinny as it looks in the photos. Painting it all one colour actually made it feel much, much larger. We were really impressed with the quality of advice the F&B staff gave us in regards to colour. We loved Purbeck Stone from the minute we saw it, and being brave really paid off.

Black and white would go with your kitchen and you obviously know you like it as you have it in your living room. It's a very easy colour scheme to change simply just by adding colourful accessorise to it. I would go and get a sample of the wallpaper you like and stick it on the wall, leave it there for a few days and look at it in different lights, you will also want to think about if you will get bored of it quickly.

Hi, This is a beautiful wallpaper choice! Answering your question I wouldn't advice to go with any colour shade from the wallpaper - either grey or green or even gold for the rest of the walls - simply because it will be too obvious. You have beautiful sofa - as I can see from the photos this colour is close to rustic red with an orange hue. What I would choose being you, and what would compliment your whole colour scheme including curtains choice is: https://www.farrow-ball.com/paint-colours/sulking-room-pink which will go very well with your wallpaper, curtains, sofa and carpet. You simply need something which will blend together heavy sofa, curtains and elegant wallpaper. I wouldn't also use the colour similar to the colour of your sofa as it will look too heavy. It has to be something, which is light in weight and is connecting elegantly with your wallpaper choice and connect to sofa at the same time. If you leave sofa not connected to the colour of the wall it will look as you left a separate piece of furniture in the room. With the colour choice I sent you as an example your room will look stylish and warm at the same time. You can then add a warm grey wool blanket (hand crafted ideally) and mixed cushions matched to the colour of curtains, also a bit of grey too.

thank you so much for your advice! so the structure is pretty much unchanged so it's not a new wall that was erected in between rooms. Walls are original, solid but when a hole is drilled in them, they do have this crumbly stuff that comes out...am I making ANY sense?! 😂🙃 He's basing his opinion on the flats that he's renovated and that he also bought and renovated his own flat on the same road as mine. I don't know if he was putting me off extra work to help me save money OR he didn't want to take on more work. I've had a few carpenters flake on me so I'm not sure which of these two it is- will see if I do get a quote from him or not 🤷🏻‍♀️ yes for the bedroom, papering on top and painting below the beading. The wallpaper I want alone is likely to cost £1000 so I would die if I buy it and then can't use it...😬

Bedroom curtains ican't be too plush in my opinion. I'd go for a good weight slub velvet and make sure you don't skimp on the type of heading. A lot of ready made curtains have 2" headings which can look cheap and nasty. Pinch pleats look great, but if funds are tighter, then go for a 3" Pencil Pleat.

There are many sites that offer them made to measure for fairly reasonable prices. This one, Curtains2Go are good and it's easy to put in your measurements, and pick your heading type.

I chose these cafe au lait velvet curtains with pinch pleats in a rough size for a bedroom window:-
