Help, I need to renovate and don't know where to start.
Comments (3)Hi Diane Unless your work is structural you needn’t get an architect involved, and I may be able to help you. I’m an interior designer and am based just a few miles from SE25. I’d be happy to come round for a consultation. DM me to express your interest and get your home sorted....See MoreHELP! Bought our first home and no idea where to start!
Comments (5)I would move in before making any decisions. Paint colours can only do so much, so I wouldn't focus too much on things like that so start with. Once you are in you will notice the light levels etc and that should help to focus things. If you don't need all of the upper units in the kitchen you could remove the odd one, that might help to open it up a little and create some light. Is there another bathroom? Do you need an ensuite? Maybe it's like a 'kitchen island', a good idea if there's space, a bad idea if not....See MoreWE WANT TO RENOVATE OUR HOME
Comments (5)Hi Jekin, we did a major renovation recently (extension for a kitchen/dining/living area) on our 1930s house. First, I recommend getting up to 3-4 different quotes from local builders. Do you have some recommendations from neighbors or friends in your area? Some builders work with an architect, some don't. Get quotes from the architects too. If you get some quotes you have a rough idea in terms of budget. We couldn't do a whole reno yet, so we'll do it in stages. The extension was the first we wanted to be done. I've written a blog post Kitchen make-over scandi-style about the work at our home, maybe you want to browse through it (before and after images might be interesting) and if you have further questions, drop me a line;-) Good luck with it! I know how challenging it can be. But as someone how has come out on the other side, I can definitely tell you, it's worth it....See MorePlease help with our layout for our Reno of our forever home
Comments (13)Hi! For this to be your forever home you really want to make sure you get this right! You're going to find the workshop that I'm running next week on Friday really useful to help you manage cost, time and quality. It's only £47 and 100% of profits go to homeless charity Coffee4Craig. During the live workshop there is time for Q&A so I'll answer as many questions during the session as I can. You can find out more and save your spot here: https://iarchitectlimited.vipmembervault.com/products/courses/view/1145853 I hate to say this! For your floorplans I would really suggest that you start from scratch! If the interior space hasn't been considered and its just been a set of plans to look good at the front for the purposes of planning, then there is a high likelihood that they are not going to give you the high quality of life that you are probably hoping for from your forever home. It's easy to make a house look good once you've got the layout right, it's a lot harder to make it work well inside and feel like an enjoyable and easy space to live in when you just have a volume that looks good from the front.
