Topic on Houzz you want to read more about?
Comments (29)I've just thought of a new one. There are quite a few more feminine oriented topics and articles in here which is totally understandable given the demographics and followers, but I think it would be nice to have an article on styling a bachelor pad for us male fans of design. Not necessarily cliche ones with interiors showing pool tables, photos of cars and gadgets as not all men are gadget obsessed, just a good quality article showing more masculine colour themes, textures etc. I'm always inspired by interiors by Tom Ford, Natuzzi and Bo Concept as good examples....See MoreI don't have a clue......
Comments (17)I completely agree with Matthew! It looks like you have a lot that you want to change. Pretty daunting and costly when you look at it all together. I would give yourself wee targets. One room this month, another next month, for example. Then the ground floor outside/ inside this year. Upstairs next year. It will ensure that you are seeing yourself move forwards. The danger of trying to do too much at once, unless you have a huge team behind you, is that you will feel like you are getting no-where. Pretty demotivating. One step at a time. Nautral colours are always a great base too. It will look clean, fresh and be a blank canvass for your next project. Alternatively with neutral colurs, just new soft furnishings will changethe feel of a room incredibly... Looks exciting though!! Imagine when it is done and all in your own style :)...See MoreIdeas for the Advice section!
Comments (45)Me again! Can we also have a reader's how to section. Such as a designer showing in pictures how to stage a sideboard with bijouterie depending on style, or how to style a bedroom with accents, or even articles on how to achieve X,Y,Z on a budget (I'm sure Houzzer's will have an idea - maybe this could be a section in itself?) Articles on colour or pattern matching etc would appeal vastly methinks. Even simple things that can easily be found on an internet search such as how to prep bannisters for painting would give a more magazine feel. Also a regional links page for cateogries. These could accompany articles. For eg. an article on prepping with images and step by step along with a list of Houzz recommended companies regionally who could undertake the work or fix a botched job! Topics I would be interested in include: How to add value to your home, how to maximise light, how to achieve a professional finish decorating; interior design ideas; how to change the facade of a property; flowers for the garen, door way, flowers for shaded areas, climbers for shaded areas, scented plants, how to ensure colour in the garden all year round etc. Decorating/furnishing ideas to create optical illusions to create size/light etc. Thanks for asking. I love this site and literlly spend hours getting lost on it with a cup of coffee :-)...See MoreWhat do you want to read about on Houzz this year?
Comments (53)I can't help but speculate that perhaps the reason so many houses featured are London based or more high-end properties is because most of the case studies are uploaded by architecture or design professionals who employ professional photographers to show off the finished results. These services aren't cheap and I don't imagine these companies get too many requests from owners of smaller 30's - 70's era homes, especially from outside the capital, because the homeowners won't see a return on the investment. I would have thought requesting design-savvy home owners load more of their own photo's would help bridge the gap. Perhaps on the next newsletter you can ask homeowners to consider contributing any photos of spaces they are particularly proud of?...See MoreBrandler London
