Under stairs ideas?

I'm not a fan of clutter so don't really want to use it as a kiddy play area, any other ideas on how to tastefully utilise this space aesthetically or practically?

Comments (19)I would always rather invest in stunning furniture than spend money on more permanent changes. In my experience you can make any space look great with the right furniture and decor. Rather than spend money on something structural I would work with the space you have with furniture that works better than the heavy farmhouse style. The nicest furniture in the room is the sideboard so I would build on that. I'd look at something like Gubi Beetle dining chairs to bring in an organic streak. Not cheap but cheaper than building in storage (the next best option) or enlarging the window which won't make much difference - and you can take them with you if you move! You could look at Made.com for a cheaper but complementary table. Then a decent lampshade - perhaps Tom Dixon Etch - a side lamp on the sideboard and lots of plants and pots to empathise the organic, cosy nature of the room. Finish with some pictures in the wall and you have a lovely, cosy, earthy room that feels like being down Alice's rabbit hole rather than under the stairs. Good luck....See MoreSpace under the stair
Comments (26)Well, i was serious about the fairy garden, not joking, sometimes, people have to respect the ones commenting too. It is indoors, what i was seeing kept looking like out of doors. the pond is nice enough, does it have a fountain? It really looks like it would be hard to care for? in such an area, you could have great control and grow something like orchids? Other wise how about either an exhibition space for glass vases or sculpture, good lighting wonderful colors or prism effect of cut crystal or statuary. if you stick with the pond, i would definitely do a fountain, that would help keep it clean. once again could provide for some lovely water loving and shade loving plants....See MoreStorage ideas for pantry under the stairs

I would like to put up racks, similar to a spice rack, but ones that I could fit tins of soup etc inside...rather than shelves. (I'm thinking of something like I use in the shower, for shampoos etc.) Have seen a photo of something similar on Houzz, only cannot find it again! Have trawled B&Q and IKEA websites, to no avail.
