Comments (7)Hi NG, I agree with Claire. There are so many great places to get local second hand products that can be a temporary fix - even for free in places like FreeAds. I wouldn't invest in your final items just yet - until you have your design sorted and you know exactly what you want. There's nothing like being left with an expensive item that's it's too late return but that doesn't fit your final kitchen! I would recommend putting a few hundred quid in now (throw away) to what could save you hundreds later on making an 'expensive mistake' :) I hope it helps and look forward to hearing more on your project. All the best, Gina...See MoreAppliances? branded or budget?
Comments (11)Entirely depends on the price of the property and the placement of the buyer on the property ladder. For instance if you're at the lower end of the market and buying built in....then budget doesn't matter so much. If you're at the top end, then they will definitely have an opinion as they will on the work surface, the flooring and pretty much everything else. So, all depends on your budget and the market you're selling to. An awful lot of women buying houses ( and I put my wife in this bracket ), will look at what it's got and say that has to go as soon as we move in because it's not specific to their taste, so , with that in mind, i'd go mid range if the market you're selling to warrants it. We put decent brands in most of our rentals, for the warranties and because we live in an affluent area. Thus, if they're paying top dollar rent, then they expect better. Are you selling on or renting out, as that makes a difference too....See MoreKitchen appliances
Comments (3)I always think an oven in a tower looks far nicer than a range. Plus you don't have to bend down to put items in or out. You can have a single or double oven then a separate steam oven. Having had built in ovens for as long as I can remember (probably 35+ years) there's no way I'd contemplate anything else. I like the look and convenience of it. I've heard before people question the size of them and that always puzzles me. I cook a lot and have no problems cooking a roast on one shelf, roast potatoes on another shelf and then Yorkshire puddings or parsnips on a third shelf all within the same oven. I also cook a large turkey every Christmas. No problem with space. Regarding hobs it simply has to be an induction hob. So fast, clean and cheaper to run than others. If you have the budget look for a decent brand e.g. Bosch, AEG, Neff or Miele....See More'Best & cheapest way to buy new appliances' - advice please
Comments (3)If you are buying all of these it is probably because you are having a new kitchen. I think you might try your kitchen retailer- it is commonly thought that this route is more expensive but in my experience it is not. Also you must remember that any savings elsewhere often outway the time spent waiting for deliveries or the cost of calling back trades to fit appliances that turn up after the kitchen fit. I would also point out that the kitchen supplier would also take responsibility for ensuring that appliances match. Not long ago someone was showing off their kitchen on this forum- they were oblivious to the mismatched appliances but plenty of people do notice....See MoreDaisy England
