Panelled hallway and stairs
Comments (1)You should thoroughly clean it with a product like sugar soap and then prime it with an Easy Surface Primary And then you can paint as normal. Make sure you caulk in between all the joints to stop gaps showing. If there are knots in the wood you should treat them with knotting or a similar product to stop the knots seeping. Good luck with the painting....See MoreWall panelling in a hallway
Comments (4)Hi Monsteradelicosa! I don't know of any builder's merchants that stock Georgian style panelling in water-resistant MDF (If you find it please let me know). On high end properties we ask the joinery companies to machine it for us from whatever material we specify, however I have put together some more appropriate (DIY) and cost effective alternatives that mind help you come up with a solution. I have assumed a few things about your project, so apologies if I have gotten anything wrong. See attached image, I have given you a few of my personal tips on how to get the look you are hoping for. I hope this helped you! Jo x...See MoreAnthracite Composite front door with 2 side panels

Comments (9)Thanks for the info and link, Sonia, much appreciated :-) They are very strange aren't they! But the house may be just that much older than the usual Victorian houses I've seen, so maybe these are Arts & Crafts mouldings. I just think the mouldings and some of the dadorails are so thin that they aren't in keeping with the size of the rooms the way the cornices and skirting boards are, and maybe that is why they are additions. Thanks again!...See MoreEileen M
