Large L shaped lounge/ dining room
Comments (13)Hi Joe, good luck with your new home! It's nice to see the room layout options from OnePlan, they could all work. With these lovely 3d drawings to look at there isn't a lot more to add other than.... I would definitely go for the TV on the interior (kitchen) wall as it makes best sense of the space. You could then do something fabulous, decoratively speaking, on the long wall and create a real wow factor. The bi-fold doors are going to be your point of access to the garden, and let's hope we have sufficient good weather for you to use them a lot throughout the year. For this reason I would consider keeping the area near the bi-folds as clear as possible, maybe just having a lounge chair, footstool and coffee table here (I can imagine reading the Sunday papers and enjoying the view). A swivel chair is best so it can be turned into the room towards the sofa for conversation when you have company....See MoreL shaped living room with dining room at back
Comments (7)Hi Chrisinem269 glad someone else does not like the television to be a focal point in a room - so refreshing! In one of my projects my client wanted the tv to be a discrete presence too so I sourced a great cabinet where the screen would rise up out of the back. Another option, though quite expensive, is to have the screen disguised as a mirror. Not sure how the technology works but television is in the frame and looks and works like an ordinary mirror when off but when the tv is on the screen presents clear pic of programmes....See MoreDesign Dilemma: L-shaped living/dining room
Comments (4)Hi, its a lovely room I agree drawing out where you'd like to place your existing furniture is a good idea, then you can see how much available space you have left. If you have budget and Interior Designer would be able to create a couple of layouts for you to help you utilise the space (much more affordable than you think) The fireplace is lovely have you considered keeping it as a relaxing zone and possibly putting the TV elsewhere? I’m not sure on the full layout of you room, but could you have the TV on the wall you have taken the photo from with the L-Shaped sofa facing it. And then you could add a couple of comfy chairs either side of the fireplace with a rug in the middle (always have at least the feet of your furniture over the rug so it doesn’t look like a little island in the middle of your floor) similar to the image below....See MoreL-shaped living room in an apartment - design ideas please!
Comments (15)I’m much liking the look of that second layout suggested by Carolina - there are some very clever solutions there! The positioning of the doors is slightly awkward, but this layout creates zones that work nicely. The position of the sofa very cleverly creates a TV zone, and also defines the study area behind it. And those two orange accent chairs are lovely, forming part of the lounge zone whilst also drawing the eye to the windows and the view. And, on days when Joan and her family/visitors want to gaze at the view, they can be simply turned round. There’s just one tiny tweak i might suggest: to remove the coffee table and instead have a side table and lamp to the left of the sofa, in the corner by the door. Otherwise, if that were my room, I’d be looking at the orange chairs and the view as I walked into the room... and I’d trip over the coffee table :-)...See MoreMeli
