Tv above fireplace and mirrors

When mounting tv above gas fireplace I wanted to add mirrors each side in order to create more light, not sure what would look better round or rectangular ones, and if extra large wouldnt be too overhelming...considering deep alcove on one side and just a long wall on the other side. ( there will be cabinets on both sides as well)..

Rectangular will create a pattern and repetition because of the TV. Circular will be a feature since it will not match the other rectangular shapes. If you go for circular, you can match it with other circular decorations as a focus point. Rectangular will create repetition and if you choose the frame well, it can support the focus point. It is all about what do you want as the main focus in the room. Good luck :)

Thanks so much. My focus is to remove focus from the tv...I know it sounds ridiculous as it is in the centre...hence the questions....

I personally prefer the first one as it's an unusual and attractive shape. Cream would not stand out against the wall. The room looks nice. You do not have to have everything in a particular style, just choose things that you really like. Just my opinion. Good luck.

I think it would be such a shame to change the style of the mirror. It's period correct, it fits the style of the room, it's correct for the style and age of the fireplace. Why would you replace it with a modern round one? The armchair is correct style for the room in age I agree that the only thing wrong with it is the tone of colour, it matches nothing. Move it up slightly and balance the size of the objects around it. Please, please don't change it for a modern round one..................it's a crime against 'periodness'!! ....................
