Oak furniture in small bedroom
Comments (15)Hi Catherine. If you feel the furniture is obtrusive you could try painting with annie Sloan chalk paint in an old white. No prep work is needed so it's easy. The neutral carpet should work with most colours. As Jonathan has said it's best to decorate a room that will grow with her to minimise future costs although 11 year old girls quite often want a grown up room! Duck egg might be a good choice or a more grown up hot pink or chalk pink (just a little hot pink though!). Or you could continue with creams and taupe and accessorise in other colours. What are her favourite colours and interests?...See MoreArts & Crafts Bedroom Wallpaper Dilemma
Comments (85)It looks great, I'm glad you and your daughter are so pleased and she has lots of room for friends over, playing etc. It can also be easily and cheaply adapted as she grows if she wants. My only criticism (if you can call it that) is that if not already your daughter may soon also want the desk to double up as a dressing table and therefore I think a mirror was a good idea but the memo board (which looks great) can always be moved as and when needed. (I thought i'd posted a comment on that previously but obviously not!). I might also add a desk light there for working during winter months. So which room next?!...See MoreHow would you design this bedroom? I want it calm, cosy & bright :)
Comments (36)Gone through my album of our very own decorating therapy journey and found these. I hope you can see the roller black-out in the first photo, it's tucked inside the recess of the window. The Duette is a peachy colour which looks a lot lighter colour in the north-facing sun. The one in the five panel window is the room below, it does not have the roller blind but the curtains are black out. They are not as efficient in blocking out light as the roller in recess though. the curtains are from Hamilton McBride, only reason i got them were because not many wide (350cm) curtains are cheaply available on Amazon... If your room is not too cold, you can also consider wooden venetian, mine is in white colour as you can see from the 'blue room' (it's F&B's new Vardo btw), which is on the ground floor of the north facing side. 247 does oak colour too. Many neighbours asked us where we got those from!! They look great at a good price - those two windows cost me just under a £100 - but they are not the most energy efficient. They are okay blocking out light but if you have it in the south-facing room, it might not be quite enough. Do go to 247blinds and request some free samples, it's worth a try. Hope this helps! ;)...See MoreAdvice on best option for bedroom flooring?
Comments (10)Hi Cassie, I would agree there would be too much wood. My client was also worried about painting her boards but was really pleased with the end result as the grain, flaws and character still showed through. An engineered floor will give you a different look of course but like you rightly say, would be less drafty. Look for wide boards with a bevelled edge so you get distinct boards rather than a uniform, flat finish. Do think about adding a rug regardless of the finish you go for as it's a great way to add interest, colour and texture. Wishing you all the best....See Moretgross39
