Patio Door Help Needed!
Comments (14)Thanks all... we are changing our kitchen/dining room windows and doors to be grey aluminium so would quite like top match. we can lock open current does but don't feel secure as they are really cheap doors and 20+ years old. I did consider the French door window but think look bit old fashioned. was thinking a 3 panel door with middle one tilting and opening. we rarely use as a door. Struggling to source anything....See MoreDoor Brake or Stay

Comments (23)I definitely like that you’ve gained a clear run from the hall way so you can see out to the back. I don’t think having the dining space diagonally really matters and as you say you gain extra light there. Also depends how much you use the table/living room/kitchen. I often Potter in the kitchen so would want that to be light enough to not always need to turn on lights, and often sit on the sofa and read so the same, but only eat evening meals at the table so it’s less of an issue, but if you use it all day, or have kids drawing there then you’ll have different priorities. I think if you can block off a small corner to create a utility cupboard that might be useful to help reduce noise in the open plan space. I think you could potentially do well discussing with a concept planner for the room. Many people on here have used OnePlan and recommend her. I think there are lots of options and everyone will have opinions of what works better but Presuming you’re doing this for you and not to sell then there’ll be additional considerations of your preferences and how you’d live in the space. :-)...See Morepatio doors advice
Comments (13)Hi Hannah, First you have to get good plumber to remove the existing radiator and replace it with a tall panel radiator having similar heat rating. This can be located to the left of the room. Next get a builder to remove the existing double glazed Upvc windoe and cut out the wall below sill level on either side. Ask a window supplier to come and measure the new clear opening : overall height and width and manufacture a new French doors with over glazing panel to suit new opening or to supply and install a 2 No. panels Bi-folding doors to full height. Should you wish to have the Patio at the same level as the finish floor level of the Living Room, please make sure you incorporate a continuous threshold drain. Refer to Aquabocci drainage product.] If you want to have wider opening to what is existing, you will need to get the advice of a structural Engineer and the design and calculation of that beam will need to be submitted to your Local Building Control Department for their approval. So it's up to you which route you want to take. Regards Alain B...See MoreAMB
